One night I was living in an apt and I had just fallen asleep around mid-night and I heard a loud bang sounded like a shotgun blast and a image of my neighbor looking a his new shotgun he got for xmas through the window flashed in my mind, I jumped up grabbed my pistol and headed to the front door looked out side, waited, listened for a good 30 minutes, not a peep. I saw my neighbors the next day and knew no one was dead.

It wasn't till a few months later I was watching TV around 11pm and my dog was sleeping in her kennel and must have twitched and kicked the side of her kennel, and there was the sound.

Made me feel like a fool. But when your half asleep even a mildly loud bang can feel like a 12ga.
