Don't count on your neighbors for help

Like Father of four says, I won't count on my neighbors but I will help if there is a need.
I have lived in my apartment building for almost 3 years. In that time, the apartment to the right has had 3 different sets of people, the apartment to the left has had 7 different sets of people.
On my floor, it seems to be a revolving door of people in and out. Out of the 12 units, I have been there the longest. Very difficult to get to know anyone and I do prefer it to be that way right now.

It never occured to me that someone else has a responsibility to come running over to help if I am confronted by two big dudes. Never really gave it much thought but I guess I just consider it my resposibility to take care of my own problems.
