There is a perceived crisis with gun violence being the major cause of death in this country. The ability to have a "discussion" regarding guns is delusional. There should not be a need for discussion. Discussion should center on mental health and criminal justice.

I'd say that the LEFT WING MEDIA wields too much power over America.

Why else would we be hearing such one sided attacks on gun owners and gun ownership? Then....does this sound familiar? Anti-NRA/Anti-Border/Anti-Republican/Anti-Trump, Rrrright.

Joe Vargo of Columbus, Ohio

"The NRA has made itself part of the Republican political apparatus by engendering fear, xenophobia, racism and violence among its audiences. It has been used by the Russians to foment discord in American society, and it should be thoroughly rejected by anyone who values American democracy."

Taken from the provided link.

What should be rejected.....is Joe Vargo's Un-American stance/views towards the US Constitution. What do you suppose, influenced this guy's thinking?

or maybe it was.....

or maybe we should just forget?

But here it is.......it's right in the Democrat's Platform statement.

Preventing Gun Violence
With 33,000 Americans dying every year**, Democrats believe that we must finally take sensible action to address gun violence. While responsible gun ownership is part of the fabric of many communities, too many families in America have suffered from gun violence. We can respect the rights of responsible gun owners while keeping our communities safe. To build on the success of the lifesaving Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, we will expand and strengthen background checks and close dangerous loopholes in our current laws; repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) to revoke the dangerous legal immunity protections gun makers and sellers now enjoy; and keep weapons of war—such as assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines (LCAM's)—off our streets. We will fight back against attempts to make it harder for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to revoke federal licenses from law breaking gun dealers, and ensure guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists, intimate partner abusers, other violent criminals, and those with severe mental health issues. There is insufficient research on effective gun prevention policies, which is why the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention must have the resources it needs to study gun violence as a public health issue.

Remember their mantra?

"We are for the 2nd A. We are not trying to take away your guns. We are FOR reasonable and common sense gun laws."

Reasonable and common sense according to who? Hillary, Chucky, Diane, The Brady Bunch, Mothers Against Gun Violence, etc....?

THEY have attempted to place you into a corner. Trying to marginalize YOU and your stance/beliefs.

Because.....
IF you agree with them......you are a reasonable person and have common sense.

But if you disagree.....it's because you are not a reasonable person and have no common sense.

Is it even worth trying to have a conversation with someone who is "obstinate?" "Talk to the Hand."

Didn't Bayer and Monsanto just merge?

Ya, the NRA is way more powerful! o_O

NRA spent 50.4M in 2016 election cycle. Labor unions spent 1.8B.

Why are we talking about political power of a lobby group for a protected right enumerated in the Bill of Rights? This is asinine. Very much like inflating the statistics of gun deaths in the US and treating them as if they're in a bubble by not comparing them to actual leading causes of death in the US that we can take action against.

The title of which disguises the underlying question: Does the US Constitution guarantee too much freedom? The old leftist shell game of shifting blame from their utter moral and political failures to blame those who hold legal and moral standards. The left demonstrates their utter hypocrisy in tolerating all manner of human behavior except that which is traditional and foundational to the nation. Two things come to mind:

1) We must yet again go increasingly on the offensive, clarifying the actual issue and backing it up with the applicable statistics as to murder and violence rates/demographics as well as positive Supreme court decisions.

2) Launch a campaign which suggests that abuse of the first amendment via fake news and biased reporting is the true problem, and calling for "reasonable restrictions on the media", "common sense media control", "background checks" on the media or something similar - using their own code words. Toss the ball back in their court, as they are are the guilty party.

I can almost hear knees jerking at NPR and liberal undergarments knotting up nationwide.

They must, Killory was on a constant rampage against the mighty NRA, so much so that she bragged at how she her self alone stood up to them and some how forced them to back down! We all know that's a bunch of borscht, but that's besides the point because Killory said so, makes it so, and we see who is sitting in the white house eating Kurds and whey! If any thing, the NRA needs to dig into it's vast war chest and start exerting real power, or the entire left coast will fall, and the NRA will be loosing a metric chit ton of memberships monies! That's Not going to do them any favors! At some point, there will be no one left to support them, and they seem ok with this? Wow, what a way to run a railroad!
Yea, go dems go, stand up to the NRA, your doing a bang up job of it, there backed up to the ropes now! bunch of effers!

The real crisis facing this country is the opioid crisis, some 115-175 people die each and every single day from it. And big pharma is the most powerful lobby in Washington D.C.

If the elected officials were serious about saving lives, they'd do something about this actual crisis, rather than a perceived one....

Talk about being over the top and out of control...

LOL....to the LEFT.....most everything is a "Crisis" when they want some else to pay for fixing it.

Example: OBAMA CARE.

I would say compared to most other Lobbyist they do not have enough, they may in some areas but in Oregon
they might as well just stay home as they effect nothing here. So for use in the NW its as if we have no power at all represented by the NRA.

The Following all have larger lobbyist with way more power.
  • Chemical Companies.
  • Medical and Drug companies
  • Oil
  • Milk & Dairy have a huge lobby probably one of the largest.
  • Pro- Abortion
All thew above are heavily over powered and influence our daily lives, the NRA simply
protects us to own a object ... ya seem silly when we look at it that way.

The NRA is there, trying to help us retain our RIGHTS. You know, "preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States".

It's funny.....how/why, the NRA, trying to support the Constitution's 2nd A has become such a, "bad thing".
To ME....trying to destroy the Constitution, is Un-American.

Yup.....I'm a "Deplorable American".

Obamacare was a stupid idea. They won't even admit it because it was Obama who did it. You don't have health insurance or your health insurance doesn't cover it because you can't afford anything that meets the ACA standards? You pay a penalty for essentially being poor!

The latter is easy, fix the damn media portrayal and copycat crime will be reduced. Mental disorder is responsible for very few murders, basically not enough that it would make any real difference compared to finding a way to eliminate copy cat crime (changing the media portrayal is biggest step in that).

Most murders are gang related (the most of them), domestic violence, or in a robbery. The rest are a really minor amount.
