Just picked up a Remington 1148 12ga from my neighbor for $125. I felt it was a fair price. The stock had a few small chips out of it. The recoil pad need to be replaced and it need to be cleaned. It has been in the closest for at least 20 years. Has some rough spots on the outside of the barrel and receiver but no rust on the gun. No cracks in the forgrip. It was built in Dec 1949. Other than that, thats all I know. My questions are:
Can it shoot slugs, buckshot 00, steel bird shot? I have just been putting target shot through it for clays.

Slugs would depend in whether its a choke barrel or not.
The rest shouldn't matter. Iirc, the 1148 is an updated version of the model 11. Pretty sure It's the 1148 that I had....
They'll shoot more stuff with no messing around than the 11 would.
I wouldn't shoot super heavy loads through it, though.

Pretty sure any choke means no slugs.
There are some shells that are loaded hotter and have more shot, but I can't remember which ones.
