Noticed? Yes. Care? Not even remotely. People are free to price an item as they feel fit.

Just before the latest panic buying, I bought a new hunting rifle from Grab-a-Gun for $760-ish. When I checked the page afterward, the same rifle was listed over $1,000 and sold out. I was, obviously, fine with the former price, but wouldn't have bought on the newer one. Evidently other didn't feel the same, because they sold out.

Meh. :s0092:

Is there a run on guns? I thought it was just ammo. Are places even open to do transfers? I have a slew of guns I wouldn't mind moving to free up space, a few of them new and unfired.

Geez bud, what rock you been hiding under?

Pretty much every gun store has been cleared of over 80% of their inventory. For example, I received this email from a local store about a new shipment of ammo, look at the cases and walls. Those used to be full... only took a week.

And yes, many gun stores are still open and the usual places are still doing transfers.

Easy.
Don't buy it.
People are going to price things at what they want. Consider it window shopping.
Why is what someone asks for something offending your ethics? You seem to still have them.

I have a simple solution; If a seller is marking prices more than 30% higher than pre-scare, I put them on ignore. That way when it all cools down I know who not to buy from. A person willing to profit from adversity has, in my personal opinion, just enough of a lack of morality for me to not trust them when times are good.

If you see some better deals on ammo out there please post them in the Great Deals section of the NWFA classifieds, I am sure your efforts will be appreciated.
Don't post them.
The deals are for the forum members.

Pass it around behind the scene.

We need "key-words" ;)

Just my $.02 with respect to all, but I personally have a problem mentioning "price gouging" in a free market economy if I don't like socialism and communism. But that's just me. Rather be "gouged" than live in Venezuela.

This is gonna get long, apologize (you can stop at the above if you like). Anyone remember the story of the person trapped by the flood. Police drove up to give him a ride and, "No, God will save me." Flood got higher and then the Cajun Navy showed up and once again he said, "No thanks, God will save me." Standing on the top of his roof a Coast Guard Helicopter flew over and dropped him a line and he yelled up, "Waiting for God to save me!"

He drowned. When he got to Heaven he was shocked and asked God why he didn't save him and God replied that he sent him a car, a boat and even a helicopter, what else did he want???

How this applies today. The shortages and gouging after Sandy Hook...our car. Presidential election run up...our boat. Early news of the virus...our helicopter. I appreciate not everyone is in the same financial situation but none of this should come as a surprise unless you are new to firearms ownership (which I'm sure some are.)

I haven't paid attention to the gun market in years.

Maybe some people in the know can help me with some resell values of the guns below.

What point are you trying to make?
This is not the classifieds, but I'm sure someone can help.
Check going prices. Add 30-50% due to the times.

Going to be that guy.
They are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them

Sign of the times, considering, I guess. I don't know. I don't sell.
You mean to say, with all them paperweights, you don't have a clue where to look up going prices?
Gun Broker, Grab-A-Gun. Here are a few more. search1.jpg

Never used Grab-A-Gun or know what it is. Can't figure out how to find the ended auctions on GunBroker, just current running ones. Looked in the NWFA classifieds but didn't find much of what I'm looking to sell. So it's not like a didn't put some effort into it, just thought you guys would have the easy answers.

This is a free market economy.
Price is variable among people and groups of individuals.

There are very few restrictions in the classifieds here and we always have the right to move along. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy $.50 22LR ammo. When seller realizes they are high they will weigh how much they want $$ and at some point their value and another's will cross. At that point the items sell.

I'm curious if you have an issue with ammo being listed months back under retail pricing?

To see ended auctions on gunbroker you have to have a gb account and be signed in. That is a great way to see what firearms are fetching. Make note of shipping prices when checking gunbroker prices. If a firearm sold for 300 but had a $50 shipping charge tacked on you should be able to get more than $300 if selling locally.

Is anyone really buying at unreasonable prices though? I mean most of us here are pretty educated and learned our lessons the last time and if someone is still able to afford to buy at those prices and can't realize that this is only going to last a couple of months vs an 8 year Obama administration where ammo companies did not have the tooling to keep up with demand so what if they do. So if they can afford so be it. I think its kind of silly to post at prices that no one in their right mind would pay and silly to pay for something that you will be able to buy for a few months later at regular price.

I think the only people paying the outrageous prices are people who can afford to and those who are complaining are those who didn't learn and got caught with their pants down so the only thing they can do is whine about it. Or newbs who really shouldn't be buying out of fear because if they do not know how to use the weapon and ammo they are buying they are at risk of hurting themselves or others because they did not take to time to educate themselves. so maybe it's best that they can't afford what they are seeing so they use this time to educate themselves and be better prepared in the event that we have an actual disaster.

There are still guys posting at some good prices maybe a little too good like one member posting .22 at 4 cents an rd. which means someone will probably buy it up and charge double or triple. I think he should have charged a little more like 7cents an rd. which would have still been reasonable and got the ammo to someone who was going to use it rather than flip it.

Here's the thing, and I don't mean any disrespect here....

Why does anyone care? If you don't like the price don't buy. No reason to take it personally and complain about it. How does it really affect anyone's life? Sorry but to me it's silly to whine about it and a lot easier to just ignore it and move along.

As soon as I was hearing, around here, about shelves being stripped of 9mm I started seeing some here for like $25.00 a box. :) I've got a pretty good supply of everything I use, so it was just worth a giggle for me. And wondering what posses a person who has a butt-load of 9mm, and has to know that he's going to have people giving his ad the hairy eyeball, to jump in NOW and dump a bunch of it? I mean, yeah, there's money to be made selling off his stock, but he's not going to be able to stuff his mags with dollar bills? Seems like in the long run, a person will be more ahead if he just hangs on to the ammo?

Whatever, it's entertaining watching people jump right in to sell ammo at twice the price it was a month ago.
