No fun toys for me we just put whatever we get back towards a extra mortgage payment every year. It will be nice to no longer have that expense before the kids finish school though.

HAH! We sent them $1600. I made the mistake of thinking my wifes long term disability wasn't taxable, and it is!

I try to break even on taxes. I don't want to owe but, I sure as hell don't want to have to claim a "return" on next years taxes as income and pay taxes on it again

Well you don't within governments, you don't pay extra on your federal taxes for a federal return. You don't pay state tax in Oregon on a state return. You might be liable for federal taxes on a state return and state taxes on a federal return. They like to keep it simple
