Maybe we could "adopt" a Detroitian, ALA, Save the Folks as seen on TV! "For just $16.09 per day you can relieve Detroitians suffering from a severe lack of baths!";)

Whoa whoa whoa guys.... Maybe we should hear Em' out. I mean just look at the great things they've done as a population for property value... Like this great little Suburb in its early stages pictured below.. image.jpg

 Sky's the limit for this collective group of people.. They DESERVE anything we can give..

Well heck, I want free ammo!
My firearms arent gunna feed themselves.
.. But wait.. I work hard for my money, pay my bills and yet still have some cash for my hobby?!

I should work as a financial advisor for these folks..
My one free piece of advice:

"Get a job & quit popping out kids"

ok, I'll bite... how the hell do you run up a multi-hundred dollar water bill? are you taking care of a football field through the dry season? Yea, I get it, bills are like expensive and stuff, however my water bill averages about $30. Wtf? That's usually less than $1/day. Or the redemption value on 20 soda cans, or 10 2l bottles. These people are clearly eating somehow, except maybe for the ladies in the white shirts in the front, everyone else in that photo is going to the plus size section. So what's the issue here? Is this one of those things where detroit has been running a scam on billing people for water? (I actually consider this fairly likely) Are they more expensive because they have to pay to service the debt on the lavish retirement benefits they gave to their workers? (also quite likely) As it turns out, people usually want money to do something for you, so if you're incapable of getting your own water, why are you complaining about someone else getting it for you?

Perhaps these people have never tried the thought experiment of crapping in one hand, and filling the other hand up with free stuff, to see which one fills up faster. My guess is, once the water and sewer services are curtailed to their houses they will be crapping in their hands.

It is not hard, I know places near me that are $90 month min before the extra water, so it doesn't take long.

In Detroit I am not sure what the month min is.

Many don't realize this, but it was "free" for years. Decades even.
And now the bill is due.

Turns out, for decades, the grand and generous city has been just giving water to residents for free. If the Koch Brothers had done this, environmentalists would freak out and picket their headquarters accusing them of wasting precious water. But it's all cool in the name of welfare.
Oh well. Detroit is just the beginning of the financial breaking of socialist enclaves all over the country.

Don't worry though, the federal government will ride to the rescue with pockets full of taxpayer dollars.

Oh wait!

Silly me, I go to work and earn wages to pay my bills. I guess I've been doing it wrong all these years. Somebody has something I want and I don't have the money for it - I don't get it, period. Well, I guess the Democrats have no one to blame but themselves - Detroit has been under their control for decades. Hard to put the blame on anyone else. Just sayin'

Try living in Portland !

And the buck gets passed further down the line. :s0105: SOS. A large portion of people left that city since the 1970's and the crash of the automakers.

Heck I am gunna buy a rice burner and not worry bout it anymore.

Now if the government, the liberals, and every other freebie help me group got outta there and we the American people demanded to stop imports, make a true commitment to build better products without the gangster union influence

WE MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN!:s0013:

Can't find the article now, but I read that Detroit has very high water bills, to the tune of $70-$80 per month. They suspended shutoffs during the winter, and you can see how it would be very easy to rack up hundreds of dollars in water bills and late fees in just a few months. The recent articles indicate that they will shut off your water for 2 months or $150 behind. I believe this is a part of privatizing some city services as part of the bankruptcy terms.

Certainly not justifying not paying your bills, just saying that to a laid off single mom, getting caught up could seem impossible.

If you fall on hard times you scale back on your lifestyle, phone, cable, entertainment, etc. But that is for responsible people.
Irresponsible people will maintain their lifestyle, heaven knows they won't sacrifice. They'll look for others to blame and to pay their debts.

I can understand this and would think in terms of helping the single moms, until I see all those over weight single moms.
