they have tried this with many other businesses. especially car dealerships. still don't see people lining up to spend thousands on an AC unit to get a 200 dollar shotgun. If you were already going to buy from them, cool but if they were going to buy anyways, no shotgun giveaways are needed to those people. Stupid idea IMO but I guess the PR alone may be worth it.

I think a lot of it is strictly for the PR. It may also sway a customer who was on the fence between two companies to go with the one thats giving away a shotgun.
