Maybe. Maybe it's part of a bigger plan. Daddy retired and moved them to Florida in 2014. He definitely knew about the relationship between law enforcement and Broward county schools, (they weren't, or aren't, arresting school age children for criminal acts, or investigating reports of suspicious behavior in the same age group. This was a decision made at the administrative level of the school district and Broward county sheriff's dept) which had been receiving reports about the parkland shooter for some time.
Who knows. I think that it was more by design than anything.

So just what compromises are the antis making?
Its not a compromise if only one side gets their way. The constant erosion of 2A rights isn't a compromise its a tyrannical scheme to attain power over citizens to push future agendas. Socialists have proven this time and time again.

They dont at all provide ANYTHING beneficial for firearm owners. Its simply more useless red tape and pointless feel good, after-the-fact laws, more taxes, less attainability, more restriction..

Meanwhile just what do we get in this mythical compromise? Just what gets easier for us? What becomes more affordable, attainable or efficient? Nothing, not a damn thing.

There is no compromise.
We need to fire back to at least have them change their wording so its seen for what it really is.

There actually was a compromise. Something like AR platform to be treated like an NFA item, but suppressors come off the NFA list and the fed guarantees processing times of no more than, oh I dunno, 2 weeks?

Ive thought about that. Its literally the only compromise they'd make in a last ditch effort to erode the ability to get a semi auto sporting rifle. It "could" be done, but sadly their goal is control, not compromise.

Just as we saw in Oregon with private sales, many things could have been done to allow for self conducted private sales even with BGC's and retained paperwork or CHL provisions.. but instead they just banned it outright.

If they NFA'd semi auto sporting rifles we'd probably see lawsuits then fighting to allow for AOW/SBS and SBRing of the newly restricted items instead of having them retain the 16"/18" barrel rules or banning of vert grips on pistols.. But we would also see a ban on all AP ammo, a restriction on defensive ammo, mag restrictions..etc. wait times would go way up and the cost would most likely be adjusted for inflation. Turning the $200 tax stamp to more of a $500-$1000 tax stamp. Id say all the way up to $2k.. but I dont know a whole lot of people that would pay that much just for a modern sporting rifle let alone just the paperwork on one.

It could be done. And it would be better than an outright ban.. but it is still an erosion of freedom.

How about NO, if they don't like guns then they have a right not to buy/own.
Pretty dang simple and they leave us law abiding gun owners alone... seem fair?

How about this for compromise, we repeal the NFA of 1934 as well as the GCA of 1968, restoring all Americans rights to firearms, uninfringed by the Federal, State or Local governments. Then we pass National Constitutional Carry. In return, we promise that no anti-constitution politicians will be charged with treason, but will be required to surrender their current political office and receive a lifetime ban from ever holding another public office...

How's that sound for compromise little Davy Hogg....
