if nothing else they should file a counter suit for damages to the building, destruction of public property, theft and destruction of the sheets, etc.
I still remember some guys who tried to break out of prison in CA - they had built a ladder complete with a platform at the top to jump over the Lethal Electrified Fence that they had wrapped with surgical gloves as insulation. They used broom sticks, parts from typewriters, and newspaper to make the ladder but failed to estimate the height of the E-fence and came up about 3 feet short. They gave up and were caught trying to get back into the cell.
In another attempted escape from Chino a guy managed to get out of his minimum housing dorm and made it through the interior perimeter fence. To reduce false alarms on the fence we installed a cattle fence wire a few inches off the ground to prevent small animals like rabbits and the firehouse cat from hitting the E fence and setting off the alarm system. The guy got shocked by the cattle fence and was caught trying to get back into the dorm. He swore that he survived getting zapped so he didn't want to risk it any further. At least those guys weren't stupid enough to sue because they tried to escape.
Truth. As we always said, most inmates weren't there because of brilliant police work. They are there because they suffer from felony stupidMost people do not end up in there because of a high IQ
