Yes, I know. These "Spring Breakers" are a bunch of idiots. But that wasn't my question.

Did POTUS promise that churches would be packed on Easter Sunday? Or was that just a wishful/hopeful statement?

Arguably, those are two very different things...
Here's what he said. Based on this, I think he was just free-styling, trying to give people good news when there wasn't any to give. When it comes to his base, he's a people pleaser, not a straight talker.

"We're opening up this incredible country. Because we have to do that. I would love to have it open by Easter," Trump said.

"I would love to have that. It's such an important day for other reasons, but I'd love to make it an important day for this. I would love to have the country opened up, and rarin' to go by Easter."

In a second interview with Fox that aired Tuesday afternoon, Trump said he offered the holiday as a deadline because "Easter's a very special day for me."

"Wouldn't it be great to have all the churches full?" Trump asked. "You'll have packed churches all over our country … I think it'll be a beautiful time."

We ordered groceries online (Roth's in Independence). Went over and parked in the designated spot, sent them a text to let them know we were there - and they brought the stuff out and put it into the trunk of the car.

I asked the young man if they are still having many walk-in customers. He said they are.

I had the same experience at the hardware store. So, I guess there are a lot of people who aren't concerned enough about this thing to actually keep their distance.

If the germ is truly widespread, and is easily transmitted, then we're going to see a lot more sick folks in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully, it won't be that bad. But I guess we'll see.

Is any politician a straight talker...? Are they not all people-pleasers when it comes to any politician's base?

Sounds an awful lot like wishful/hopeful thinking to me. I didn't see a promise in there anywhere. YMMV...

"Unsubstantiated Hope..."

I can agree with that... ...the "rolleyes" part, that is...
Look at the source of such "news" and all questions are answered.

N.J. POLICE TEST POSITIVE, QUARANTINED; 'WHY WE SUED TO OPEN GUN STORES': SAF

Published reports that some 700 New Jersey police officers have tested positive for the coronavirus and are quarantined underscores the importance of the Second Amendment Foundation's lawsuit to require the state to open gun stores, the group said today.
"This is exactly why the Foundation lawsuit to force New Jersey to re-open gun stores during this emergency is so important," said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. "People need to be able to obtain the means of self-defense in times such as these. This is why the right to keep and bear arms is essential."
The revelation by acting State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan came Saturday during a daily press briefing on the COVID-19 outbreak.
"This stunning report should surprise nobody," Gottlieb said, "because police interact daily with scores, if not hundreds of people. It would defy odds if none became infected, and assurances by the authorities that they still have the manpower to respond to emergencies don't mean much to people when crimes are happening right now and police are several minutes, or longer, away.
"Gov. Phil Murphy needs to understand the Second Amendment wasn't written for duck hunters," he observed. "The right to keep and bear arms is enshrined in the Constitution to assure every citizen has the means to defend himself or herself when help may not arrive in time, or maybe not arrive at all.
"We're praying for the quick recovery of all those stricken Garden State police officers," Gottlieb said, "and hoping for the safety and good health of all men and women in law enforcement. But in the meantime, we will press our lawsuit to assure that all citizens can defend themselves and their families during this time of crisis.
"Phil Murphy has around-the-clock protection," Gottlieb noted, "but average citizens do not enjoy that luxury. The governor needs to lift his closure order now, and we will press our lawsuit to make sure he does."

he said Britain will "very likely" be in the midst of a "serious epidemic" of coronavirus by Easter, with "probably well over 10,000 cases" by then.

Article was dated March 12. Cases in UK today number 19,522. So even he's been too optimistic.

Interesting article on how virus spreads in confined spaces like a bus.

This fast spread fits with the Seattle lady who got it and everyone at her lunch table got it from that one lunch (Details posted about 100 pages back or so). Also that NJ family where 4 members of the family died after a family gathering (although no info about how close contact or duration on that one).

Must be fake news. WHO says it falls right to floor within a meter. /sarcasm

The US paid WHO $513M in 2017. Maybe we should divest and do our own thing.

More evidence droplets stay airborne from new MIT study:

"Given various combinations of an individual patient's physiology and environmental conditions, such as humidity and temperature, the gas cloud and its payload of pathogen-bearing droplets of all sizes can travel 23 to 27 feet (7-8 m)," the authors conclude.

But don't count on this to impress the "just wash your hands" crowd. They probably won't even bother to read the article. Don't rock my boat, bro.
