To make it easier for people to send email to targeted Senators and Reps, I've compiled lists for both parties and in both houses. All you need to do is copy the addresses and paste them in your email "to" box. There are separate lists for Dems and Republicans since some of us send differently worded messages to different members.

From what I understand, your message to individual congresspersons may not necessarily be counted as pertaining to a specific piece of proposed legislation. The additional list of important people and committees in both houses may help to get it to the top and have it counted for your intended bill.

Folks, this makes things very easy. Your message doesn't even need to be long, it just needs to get to them. Flood their in boxes with the desires of the people!

Please note that Senator Johnson has a long record of supporting the second amendment and is on record in opposition to ANY new gun control laws.

Good stuff!

Like he said, just a simple NO ON SB 941! and/or NO ON SB 945! in the subject heading and a short simple message like......

These Bills will have many negative burdens and unintended consequences against Law abiding Citizens. They will arguably increase opportunities for violent criminal acts against the innocent!
Please Vote NO!

Make sure to take an extra second to sign and address it at the bottom for your own District Rep. for added impact!

I'm UNABLE TO email after cut and paste the REPRESENTATIVE democrat addresses due to an illegal address. Does any body know which one is not workable? tkdguy

Lee Beyer has never returned my E-mails but my old AOL email account always says Sent. I never went off your list though but it's just a copy off the https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/ site that I used I presume.

I noticed on your list sometimes Rep or Sen is not in caps, same with the names. It is a Gov. website so it probably has a lot of errors!

Bump. Easy tool for people to use to contact their legislatures. Especially if you have Boone, Clem, Witt, Komp, McKeown, Gomberg or Barker (let him know 'thank you!') as your rep ;)

Edit: Saw the OFF flyer: Add Barton to the list as well.

Triggers: If you are still looking for an artist type call the local community college art department and speak with the department secretary or chairperson. You could hire one cheep. Maybe free or a pizza or what ever. i've been very successful in hiring students to do odd jobs of this type. Maybe your local church or community center could help with a posting or post on Craigslist. tkdguy

The final floor vote on SB 941, the Expanded Background Checks bill, is scheduled for tomorrow, May 4, at 10:30 AM.

You can still call tonight and tomorrow morning to leave messages for legislators. If you have already called, thank you! If not, you still have time.

We are very close to passing this bill but our representatives have told us that they need to hear more from supporters of SB 941. So let's give them a huge shout out of encouragement and support!

Please call your Oregon State Representative NOW and say that you support SB 941, the Expanded Background Checks bill. Find your legislator here and find more information about SB 941 here (at the bottom of this email). Call tonight or tomorrow morning and leave a message.

And call the legislators below even if you are not in their district. When you reach a staff member or a voicemail box, please tell them the following things:

  1. Your name and that you are an Oregon resident.
  2. Tell them you want the representative to vote YES on SB 941, the expanded background check bill.
  3. Tell them background checks save lives by helping keep guns out of the hands of criminals and domestic abusers.
  4. Thank them for their support--that's important.

The final vote on SB 941 is scheduled for Monday, May 4, starting at 10:30 a.m. The entire process is expected to last 5 hours. Governor Brown is expected to sign this bill but SB 941 must first pass this final vote.

Ceasefire Oregon thanks all of you who have poured many, many hours into this effort.

Penny, Joanne, Michael and the entire Ceasefire Oregon team!

Let's finish this!

Information about SB 941

87% of Oregonians support background checks, including 83% of Oregon gun owners.1

In Oregon, background checks for gun sales are only required from a federally licensed firearms dealer or at a gun show. Oregon voters closed the gun show loophole in 2000, but an estimated 40,000 to 75,000 guns are still sold annually in Oregon without a background check through private sellers.

Felons, domestic abusers, and the dangerously mentally ill can avoid the background check system by going to private sellers, no questions asked.

Exempt family members include parents, children, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Background checks would not be required for temporary transfer. (For example, if a gun were lent for hunting for a short time.)

The private gun sale loophole is one reason why Oregon is one of 14 states where gun deaths now outnumber car fatalities.2

Taking the responsible step of requiring background checks for private gun sales is the most effective way to reduce gun violence.

In states that require comprehensive background checks:
-48% fewer on-duty police officers are shot and killed, and
-46% fewer women are shot and killed by their intimate partners.3

Background checks are simple and effective. During 2013 alone, Oregon's background check system prevented 2,215 prohibited persons from purchasing guns from licensed dealers and at gun shows (Oregon State Police data).

Background checks save lives. Let's close the private sale loophole now.

Rep. Susan McLain is new! Wavering? Maybe she is finally listening. Give her a round of calls and emails! There is still time until she actually casts her vote on the floor.

Oh, and the auto-accident thing? Private sales are NOT the problem as gun homicides have been dropping since 1993. Suicides (not prevented by SB941) are what makes it so high (84% of 'gun deaths' in Oregon are suicide in 2013. <12% were homicide).
If you go to the VPC link above, you will notice the huge drop in car accidents just after 2005. Why? Fewer people driving after that date:

If you talk to McLain's people tell them that you won't sign our recall petition if she votes No against the bill.

Esteemed Representatives,
I'm an Oregonian writing to you in hopes you are not fooled by the people from outside our great state. Millions of dollars poured in to our state the last election cycle in an effort to purchase our legislature. Now, Everytown for Gun Safety and Mother's Demand Action Communications Director Erika Soto Lamb has bragged about having a call center in Nashville spoof phone numbers inside Oregon to attempt to sway you. You can see the evidence here: Moms Demand Action - OR's Photos - Moms Demand Action - OR | Facebook

"HEY, OREGON - MOMS CALLING! Hundreds of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America volunteers are in Nashville this weekend (along with the NRA convention!) -- and they're working the phones to turn out calls to Oregon lawmakers in support of Senate Bill 941, which requires a background check on the sale of every firearm in Oregon. Make a call this weekend: http://act.everytown.org/call/OR-State-Senate-Call/#MomsRockNashville"

Who do you represent? A lobbyist group funded by a New York billionaire that thinks he can buy his way in to heaven by purchasing his will across the country or Oregonians? This is getting ridiculous and even if you think we can improve our firearms laws I ask you to vote "NO" on this legislation purely to show these lobbyists that the Oregon legislature is not for sale. This is not just about freedom, but ethical responsibility. If you pass this law, given the BLATANT money pouring in from out of state, it will open the flood gates for the Oregon government to be bought by the highest bidder. The former Governor already has brought shame on our state, PLEASE do not bring us down fully.
