Shouldn't socialism mean free guns for everyone?

BUT, But, but.....

Guns in the hands of the ordinary citizen...…..would/could challenge a Socialist system (or even Communist system)? You know, preventing the "Socialist Govt." from enacting/getting their way ALL of the time. Yup, things wouldn't/can't work...….if the citizens were allowed to challenge the Govt. at any point.

OK...so, eliminate guns anyway.

I would be careful about comparing gun stats of Chicago(very dense city) to states (some cities, lots of rural areas). Stick to comparing like for like. I don't know if you can get county by county breakdown of data, but that would be most useful.

County by county on murders. One thing this shows is that gun control does not lower murder rates, especially look at California, Chicago, and New York for examples of aras with heavy gun control laws that have disproportionately high murder rates.

The strongest correlation seems to be population density. Note how much of the US has a very low murder rate and the majority of that is in states with liberal gun ownership laws. Look at Oregon Specifically - Multnomah County with the most murders is the county that has foisted the most restrictive gun laws in Oregon.

It's also interesting to note the correlation between how many counties voted in the 2016 election and the map in the article above. I'll let you come to your own conclusions.

I understand the difference but my point is that it's not about the "gun", it is about the society where they are being used. In rural areas or states with less big city (Seattle type) policies, the crime and homicide rates are lower. So I do understand what you are saying, but it actually goes to proving the point. Thanks for your perspective.

I will agree that society has a much bigger influence on murder than gun laws or even # of guns. There are so many confounding factors that it is very hard to separate out individual causes to study them. Single parent rates, high school graduation rates, youth employment would probably all have some correlation to gun crime as well.

I have watched a bunch of videos of some European guy that builds weapons that he can own. Lots of compressed air and bow type propulsion.

Looks like a great hobby, but I'll leave SD tool construction to my friends at S&W, thank you very much.
Sprague Jorgensen?

I'm glad they were willing to chat and learn. Good for you for being open minded enough to school them.
