And they know that most gun owners are truly not violent by nature and just want to be left alone, to live and let live. One problem is that we have largely diddly-dinked around, busy arguing among ourselves for so long that the media and politicians have used the distraction and have been setting their own narrative for years: Guns=Bad, Free Speech=Hate Crime, Capitalism=Slavery, Patriotism=Oppression, Resistance to Marxism=Insurrection, Constitutional Rights=Patriarchal Privilege. While we were busy comparing the size of our trousers they have eroded not only our rights, but also the remaining diplomatic options for the redress of grievances. The other side now has the protection of politics and PR. They are trying to antagonize us into violence by making it the only option. Which is what they have wanted all along. A violent resistance, to an oppressive system, that will "justify" a violent retaliation. We have precious few options and opportunities left for peaceful action. The question is do we stop looking at our navels long enough to organize and use them?

I live in the inner - inner city. Mines Lew Fredericks. Lew gets an F rating on Firearms and he's not a bad guy, but I want him to know how I feel. Hopefully I strike a nerve or tug at his heart so that he can agree with me. Whatever you write doesn't have to be perfect, the important part is to put your thoughts out there so they can hear from us.

Sir, we have way too many laws already, and as you well know, laws like this will do little to nothing to make anyone safer and it will hit honest hard working and poorer African-Americans the hardest. Huge fines will not do anything to change a single issue the law is intending to "fix. Rich people who get caught violating them, if they get caught at all, will simply shrug and pay the fine and move on. What will poor people do? Borrow the $ from you? They'll go to jail if they don't and they'll likely go to jail anyway just because the system is unfair. Why would you, or anyone, want to make it even more unfair? We've got enough folks in jail already.

Please turn down this "common sense" nonsense. Let people live their lives in peace. Turn down and reject all the balony that makes up SB 554.

Just curious, did you get a reply? When I (politely) email my 2 female Democratic representatives, they NEVER respond. Same with national reps - Bonamici, Merkley, and Wyden - all you get is a form letter full of self-promoting propaganda. It appears that genuine communication between politicians and the public simply isn't possible. Recent studies show that what gets signed into law now runs exactly OPPOSITE to what the majority of voters desire. The corporate media then puts a spin on it to give the entirely false impression that the public supports it.

Honestly I am not saying this sarcastically but I haven't been able to discern much difference in the time I have been here, but I am originally from a free state . Life long Oregon residents have a different perspective which I can appreciate. But honestly 5 years here and my perspective is that of big tent socialism and feel good knee jerk legislation .

Except they're not really democrats anymore. Now they're woke, socialists and Marxists... Oregon is rapidly becoming California..
