That sums it up very nicely, Wiley. I leg carry everywhere but court and they send you through the radar before you can enter. Then it stays in the car. I have carried since I was in law enforcement in the '80s. I let my category status lapse so had to go through CCW and renew. I then carried the last nine years while I taught at the local university (I know of three others, personally who did the same). Being discrete is not that bothersome.

You can check with the agency that issued your license, but I am 100% sure you can be trespassed for carrying in a hospital if you refuse to leave.

"refuse to leave" is the issue that'll get you in trouble. If you put it in the car and go back into the hospital you're no longer breaking the law.

I have carried a gun ALL over the US and have never been asked if I'm carrying one, I do have a valid HR 213 card for each gun I carry, along with my retired L.E. CCW permit & a WA state CPL.
I don't try to carry on an airplane or in a courthouse or bar, etc (I don't go to bars).
If you are more worried about carrying than what might happen to you, leave the gun at home or locked in the car. If confronted at a business, hospital, doctor's office...leave if they say they don't allow Americans with guns in their facility. There are lots of places who like Americans with firearms. A lot depends on how you act & carry yourself. It is not worth the trouble to do anything other than leave & then don't recommend the place to other Americans....

Looking for opinions on CC to these types of appointments.
I would like to avoid leaving my firearm in the car.
All I have is a G19 with a Hybrid IWB holster, so that's my only option.

Take the risk of them seeing it and possibly asking me to leave, or lock it up in the car?

First of all do they have a sign at the door prohibiting weapons?
If so leave it locked in the car, to do otherwise is breaking the law. If no sign go ahead and carry and keep it covered, you are legal in doing so. Then if they raise a fuss you can tell them they need to properly post the premises.
Then find another DR.

Buy a $25 lockbox with a cable and secure it in the car. What have you been doing when you go into a post office, VA or other federal building? Get a lockbox would be my suggestion.

I just started carrying about six months ago.
Haven't needed to go into a Federal building in that span of time.

I take the tack of "hiding in plain sight". As concealed carry gun owners, we should be responsible and NOT get into a philosophical debate over our carry rights at the possible expense of losing a good Dr. or dentist. There are other forums where your opinion and your stated rights won't cost you as much, but back to the question at hand. I have an old blue "belly bag" that not only holds my firearm but also a spare mag. What folks "see" when they observe me is an old guy with a bag that also holds my wallet, my keys and a few tissues tucked in there for effect. I want them to see this "accessory" bag that deflects any thought of weaponry, and I can wear it into the doctors office or the dental exam chair because it's...hidden in plain sight. Be safe out there!

Presently sitting in lobby of Salem Hospital awaiting a regular appointment and with concealed Colt Commander. I have never had an issue because it is concealed.

Never been transported by ambulance in a circumstance where I was armed but for surgical admittances my wife has always reminded me to go unarmed.

I have had the same primary care Providence MD for nearly 20 years and from the outset he and his staff have known and voiced no objection. I have had visits to specialists and have always made it known to them before removing cover garment that I was armed and a retired LEO. Some nervous glances or stutters but they've always ended in conversations about being armed, none with any hostility. YMMV.

i am personally not comfortable leaving a loaded weapon in the vehicle...
that's not an option for me.... it's either on my person or in a locked safe in a secure location..a car is not a secure location seeing as how your whole car can be stolen.

they have weapons lockers in court houses and such but beyond that my CCW is always on my person.

i feel leaving your weapon in the vehicle because of some liberal policy creates more gun crime in the end than it has ever stopped, most gun crimes are done with stolen weapons, either through home burglaries or car prowls....no gun signs create a situation where a gun theft is much more likely to occur than if it was on the legal owners person....

just my POV on things like that, YMMV.

Lots of good ideas in this thread of how to visit a Doctor or Dentist.
It has given me some things to consider.

I do carry at times , and I understand the phrase "concealed means concealed".
As for me , I do not like to separated from my pistol while carrying.
Someone once said "I'm all in favor of gun control , when there's a gun around , I want to be in control of it".
That is me to a tee.
And with all the talk and focus lately of Mental health and gun ownership , I'm not too sure I want my Doctor to know I own any firearms.
Too easy to make a "err on the side of caution" nowadays.

So if I go to my Doctor or Dentist I do not carry.
As always these are just my thoughts , y'all do as you want, just as long it is safe and legal where you live.

Was at a specialist I see regularly inside a clinic.

Before I got out of the car, I took my gun out and put it in the top of my small backpack.

Quick unzip and it's available. No one gave me a second look and the backpack is in real tree hunters camo.

Kept it within arms reach the whole time and when I got back into me car I holstered it again on my hip.

If one of my doctors askes if I own guns I would lie and say no.
