Nope

No compromising with the antis, their idea of compromise is we take some rights away now, the rest tomorrow. They never give and we never get.

That is so true.
Just remember back to handguns.

They said people need to be 21 or older to get something so dangerous. And to just get a rifle if you need a home defense gun.

Now the riffle is to evil? o_O

It never stops.

It's strange to hear "The willing Compromise" some are willing to give. I suspect if you'd go back in history you'd see that it's been done to adnauseam and yet they still want more. It will never end. At some point we'll all need to determine what our "Redline" is, for me it was several years ago. In 20 years I don't want to be sitting with my grandchildren telling them about the days when my & their freedoms were being taken one by one and I did nothing to stop it.

Kid. I'm gona forgive you.
You never knew what it was to be free.

Want a gun? Have your father buy you a rifle.
Mine did at age five.

Want gun control? Move to California. They got you covered. o_O
It ain't that I want gun control, it was just an idea of a way to compromise where both sides could "get" what they want. Nobody who doesn't want a gun has the ability to own a gun, people under 21 who want to can as long as they are sane, and the Libs get to feel "safer". And my dad probably wouldn't buy me a gun as he is a strict believer in "if you want it, save your money and get it". He might get me one if I gave him the money first.

I've got a compromise: We keep our guns and our Constitution, and THEY move to someplace where their dangerous, unwanted alien ideas are already practiced. Say, North Korea or Venezuela.

you get a mental health test .

This does not work. Doctors do not want to clear people to own firearms. I know because it is required in my state (Hawaii) and I'm apparently the only one who does them in the entire state. I have people taking a flight and renting a car to see me because they saw a mental health provider once 20 years ago and their own doctor wont see them and every office they call says they wont do them.

In my state it is as good as a ban for life if you ever have seen a mental health professional once in your lifetime and you cant afford a flight to see me (or know that I exist)

See how ideas that sound good end up getting twisted into something that stomps on your rights?

Being naive and young, you have time to become jaded. Theres no compromise. Giving up your rights so someone can "feel safer" is never a good idea, and pushes the boot heel of oppression further onto your neck. Never trust the government with your safety, because they honestly do not care. Individual government employees might, but no government agency or politician gives an honest damn about you. You are a number, a statistic, and a tax slave. The less freedom you have, the more control they have, and the bigger their budget.

Government and government regulation is almost always a problem, rather than a solutuion. Hand wringing freedom hating statists always want to feel safe and secure without ever putting in the effort or investment into *being* secure. They want it to be someone elses responsibility, these are the same people who feel entitled to housing, food, healthcare, a smart phone, and cable TV because their dad didn't pull out fast enough or rubber up, and thus the world was gifted the miracle of *them*

Its hard to control an armed populace, if they decide enough is enough. Its easy to do when no one but government has guns, and its near impossible for an unarmed populace to overthrow an oppressive government. The democrat party, a lot of its members, and anyone who identifies as a socialist, progressive, or communist wants us disarmed. So do a minority of republicans and independants.

Don't be so quick to agree to a compromise with someone who will never give you anythung in return, and don't willingly give up or give away your rights.

Nobody seemed to mind my 17 year old a$$ having a rifle when I joined the Army. Although they did make me sing songs about slau.... nevermind.

its all about perspective

like this dude. killed ~1100 people today. Made $15 million this year doing it. No out rage. no calls for bans.

I never said I was willing to compromise, I hate what the left is doing, I just threw out an idea as the title of the thread is compromise-ish.

Really? My taxes go to the government? I thought those forms I filled out were subscriptions to Fat Lonely Housewives Quarterly? Damn you IRS!

Well hell, that sounds like my kinda mag, if you're getting that instead of a tax bill I gotta bubblegum to my represemtative, I need me some Fat Lonely Housewives too :D

Another member here once said......

It seems that every time some evil and/or crazy person commits some heinous act with a firearm, some gun owner(s)(?) comes out of the woodwork proclaiming "we need to compromise or they're going take our rights away", yet these same people fail to realize that there is no difference between "compromising" with the anti's and not: Rights are lost either way, whether taken or given up freely. It has been said here so many times before, it's not a "compromise" when one side receives nothing in return, it's called a threat.

To those who suggest that we give up our rights voluntarily, please stop using the word "compromise", instead use the words which are truer of what you're suggesting: acquiesce, surrender, accede, submit, concede, capitulate, yield, etc..............

I've kept it because, I thought it was worth keeping for the future.
