COLT PREBAN HBAR! SPORTER COMPETITION HBAR II! EXC CONDITION! TEST FIRED! Rare JC serial number...they built HBAR Carbines just prior to the ban on these lowers and then only a handful of the rifles! The last picture is just a note off of another conversion kit making reference to Colt ARs marked "Sporter". The JC lowers were meant for California rifles when they/cal wanted special serial number runs for Cal sold guns and then they got crazy about blocking drop in sears and then they went nuts a 3rd time and were wanting more testing and no EVIL parts but they only built less then a thousand of these before pulling the model. When the Feds announced that they were going to push the Brady Ban, Colt pulled the left over lowers of these and some others and put on all the EVIL uppers they in stock so they wouldnt get stuck with them and put em out for sale as quick as they could! This is one of 3 bought at the same time by family member back then and info and guns came straight from Colt Rep that was in the gun shop discussing the upcoming ban etc. Unfortunately this one doesnt have the box but its absolutely in mint unfired condition. After the ban Colt removed the word "SPORTER" off of these types of receivers and all of those post ban were then called "MATCH" at that point.

IE...Colt Sporter Match HBAR/Colt Sporter Comp HBAR = preban and Colt MATCH Target HBAR/Colt MATCH HBAR = postban.

very aware of it. They were sold with special serial numbers to appease california that wanted special serials, testing and what ever else...but they had not banned the evil threads on the barrel or detachable mags yet. When california decided to get even goofier Colt stopped production of the ARs with that serial range after very few were made and shipped. When the feds started mouthing off about brady ban, Colt was getting rid of any and all EVIL uppers etc and so they put them back out in carbines and less then 40-50 with rifle length configuration trying to get rid of any and all uppers that they would be stuck with. The link you are talking about was actually a question that a friend of mine put out there as he was wanting to buy it but i never let him actually buy it! LOL! He got a bit ahead of himself on that one!
