It would, but wouldn't be my 1st choice in either situation.
For zombies I'd recommend something suppressible. Movies show that noise attracts zombies. Also rounds limited and slower reload, revolvers aren't a great choice in my opinion.

As far as deer hunting, you can certainly kill a deer with .357 Magnum (or .38 special) but with a 4.25" barrel and a smaller frame, it wouldn't be great for distance shooting. Wouldn't be super easy to mount an optic on it. It's very accurate though.
