CNN Poll: Registered Voters Continue Revolt Against More Gun Control

A new CNN/ORC poll shows that registered voters continue to be in revolt against more gun control, with majorities saying "current laws are about right or even too harsh."

Following public attacks like the one against WDBJ reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward–where the gunman passed a background check for his firearm–majorities also doubt the efficacy of expanding background checks.

According to CNN, the poll shows a stark decrease in support for gun control between the time that Adam Lanza stole guns and attacked Sandy Hook Elementary in December 2012 and now. For example, a poll taken in January 2013 showed 56 percent of poll respondents believed it was "too easy for people to buy guns," but by September 2015 that figure had fallen to 41 percent.

In fact, 49 percent of respondents told CNN that current laws "are about right" and "10 percent [said] that they make it too difficult to buy a gun."

While the typical Republican/Democrat divide exists–65 percent of Republicans think current laws "are about right;" only 28 percent of Democrats agree–the real demographic highlight is the fact that voters under the age of 50 side with Republicans on this issue. For example, "51 percent [of seniors] say it's too easy to get a gun, while only 37 percent of those under age 50 think the same."

The loss of faith in gun control was evidenced by the fact that 56 percent of registered voters doubted more gun control "would be able to prevent those with mental health problems from buying guns" and 58 percent doubted more laws "would keep guns out of the hands of convicted criminals."

The bottom line–the revolt against gun control that gave Republicans lopsided victories in the 2014 mid-term elections not only continues but is deepening. Pro-gun and pro-Second Amendment stances are winners for the GOP now to an even greater degree than they were in 2014.

This just in CNN reports increased gun control will not happen relax 2nd Amendment supporters and sleep...yes sleep.

Remain vigilant.

There has been no sleep for us since the 60's and there will be none til all libs are sent to the deep blue. They will never quit trying to take control of you and everyone you know. so yes remain vigilant and awake and coiled.

Open speculation here: But I'm hoping this is a sign that the millennials are NOT the next generation of school indoctrinated progressive/socialists we fear.
Who are /were their professors???
...progressive/socialist libs...unless they went in with a very strong and developed mind they will be influenced. The real clean up needs to happen in the schools to save the future generations. No joke.
We can fight the politicians and the laws but there are waved of new and younger opponents coming.

True that! Have you noticed the billboard ads for getting teaching degrees? They say, "Teach the change you want to see"... I always picture some fuggin' 4-20 type hippie professor telling a classroom of "young skulls full of mush" how horrible the USA is.

I have a tendency to distrust polls, but when I see someone like CNN, which is vehemently anti-gun, let out a poll that goes against their own agenda, I have to say I'm slightly hopeful.

All this BS they've been selling the past few years about 80+% of Americans "demanding" more stringent gun laws just never sounded right to me. I get that people panic after events like SH and want to do 'something', but passing restrictive laws against the American public is rarely, if ever, the correct response.

We are, unfortunately living in a world of knee-jerk reactions that circle the globe via social media, which means people react rather than think. Then, ridiculous politicians react to that, with no thought as to the consequences of their actions. This is how we end up with so much bad legislation.

I hope the American people are ready to turn things around 180 and put a stop to the full frontal assault on our rights - not just gun rights, but many other rights too.

We can only hope people hear our message and actually think before they vote.
But they need to at least hear the truth, that's how minds are changed.

And actually get off their azzes and go vote.
That alone would defeat those bozos.

Considering how easy it is to vote by mail (how the secretary of state counts them is another story) there really is NO EXCUSE not to cast your vote. The days of "I couldn't make it to the polls" is long over. Everyone who gives a rip about their rights needs to vote in this state. We know with absolute certainty that the anti's will be sure to turn out. They have the majority, and they will work hard to protect it.

We HAVE to reverse the majority in 2016. Otherwise, we're super-screwed.

I think the more they push the agenda, the more resistance they will get. Folks are seeing through the bullbubblegum and realizing that every example of where gun control is most stringent is also where rampant crime and murder rates are highest... and that every single one of these places is run by liberals.

Want to know why this number changed? Its because 15% more of the population has gone through the experience of buying a firearm in the last couple 3 years and now knows there is nothing easy about buying a firearm in most of the USA.

THEY COST A LOT OF MONEY
You have to go to a special store where they might be looking at you funny to buy something you might know less about then the fancy new car.
You have to learn about a 100 new laws before you even know how to buy a firearm
Your faced with dozens of choices all with a different cheerleader.
You have to do as much paperwork as most peoples taxes
You have to pass the background check
YOU have to pay for the Background check
(some states add special permits and waiting periods and and and and)

And finally you can't find Ammo anywhere to feed your new gun

AIN'T NOTHING EASY ABOUT BUYING A FIREARM FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Here is something interesting to think about:

The liberal media (Huffington Post, ThinkProgress) wrote numerous articles about how the media portrayed Travon Martin and Brown. Specifically they called out that media outlets preferred to post pictures of these people looking "gangster" instead of posting pictures of them at graduation, walking the dog, etc. They said the pictures were selectively chosen to convey some kind of meaning. Let's assume they're right. Why is it then that these liberal media outlets, when writing about gun control, always have a photo of "White old fat dude" leaning over a counter looking at that handgun? I've seen large numbers of black people at shops around here. A lot of women too. How come HuffingtonPost and ThinkProgess don't admit that it isn't just "Old fat white bald dudes" who support the Second Amendment?

Yes I would like to see a far better means of verifying proper vote counting that we have.
There is WAY too much opportunity for voter fraud and with the way the democrats have acted the past few elections they cannot be trusted.

I just got a letter from the Clark County Election Office saying they noticed my signature changed during the 2015 Wa. Primary. And would I like my new signature to be the one they keep on file. Well I signed like I always due !! Now I need to go down there and verify it's really my signature and verify what's on file.
It sounds like some kind of voter fraud with my name being involved!! Not good at all!!!!

BTW, this is important. We need to get our younger friends into shooting. Even if they don't like the NRA or whatever or say they are for more gun laws. If they try shooting and even if they don't love shooting they are better at that point in the spectrum than the people that are zealously against guns. In some cases you can get them to start shooting more and sway them on the issue.

I might point out that if they are lefties and you bring out all the conservative talk and libritarianism, you are just going to scare them away. Get them shooting. Get them having fun and then work from there.

I was at dinner and the talk drifted to shooting and they both asked me lots of good questions and I have no doubt I could get them to the range if I asked which I am going to do.

Personal note here, I would take them to a range and shot them the overly safe and sane side of shooting instead of the free for all at Brown's Camp or out in the forest.

In all the debates on line and on TV, there is one question we should be asking rather than talking about our rights (which are really important!).

"What law would you have passed to stop this shooter at UCC?"

Just ask that over and over. They will give you lots of reasons, but they all sound hollow and you can shoot them down. Doing "something" might be a natural reaction, but pointing out that their action would not have stopped this tragedy is really a good tactic.

"What law would you have passed to stop this shooter at UCC?"
