OK starting 2-1-16 the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship program) will be selling WWII M-1 Carbines -Service Grade for $ 685 + free shipping . How does that sound for deal ? Of course you can't specify the brand so you get what you get ! -Apparently they are very nice condition. Just wondering if it' worth it to try and get one ?:s0043:

I picked up a IBM, Rock-ola, and M1A1 from them in the last batch. I have collected 30 carbines [And other WWII guns] for years.

The price was under $450 back then for a nice CMP Inland. :D

Maybe I should get some more? ;)

So how does this work with the new Oregon law? Can you still have it mailed to your home. The CMP website says that WA, NY, NJ, and CT. customers need to send dealer information but does not mention Oregon.

Nothing to do with the NEW Oregon law. You have it shipped to a local FFL and they do the background check and transfer paperwork.

Really? I thought you always had to go thru a FFL if the firearm was bought out of state.

Either CMP has special rights. Or more likely they do the background check on you with information you provide.

However it's done. The gun will show up at your house. You just need to be there to sign for it.

I'd rather buy a repatriated one from Korea for $300.00 and fix it up myself. at nearly $700.00 they are just about retail without knowing what your getting.

The CMP website says these are now SOLD OUT. Don't know how many they had, but they sure didn't last long.

Well, crap! Still saving my pennies for a Garand, though... Either would go nicely with my M1903.
