That is who I am talking about. Unless its changed the last times I flew with a gun I had to go see one of the TSA people once I got past the check in people. Some of them are CLEARLY anti gun. The one time I had some MORON who I am not sure what he was supposed to be doing. He overheard me tell the check in guy I had a firearm I needed to check. After being told I could not fly with a gun checked and was waiting for a supervisor with a brain this moron was standing back there telling anyone who would listen "THIS GUY WANTS TO FLY WITH GUN!!!" He had a few others in line giving me sideways looks. As soon as someone with who came equipped with a brain showed up it was a snap. I walked away thinking how long it could have taken if that one with the brain was not there that day. It was the last time I bothered trying to check a gun through. Told Wife from now on some guns will get shipped ahead. I don't care if it costs a few bucks.
It's different in the south

Too bad a lot of TSA agents just aren't professional minded. I've been doing a fair amount of flying over the last year or so. I see a lot of agents being assigned busy work, some place out of the way. Just go over there.

The other ones receiving you from the scanners. Let's see. I've been in a long line standing and dragging crap. Now stripping down I have sweaty armpits. It shows red on the scan so they can either feel me up in public or drag me off somewhere with the stupid one, that will most likely make me miss my flight.

I didn't plan on doing this much traveling but will look into the TSA PRE check-in. I hate airports.

Sometimes you gotta get fondled by the ugly fat guy to get fondled by the hot blonde.

Well, I gotta go to Columbus Ohio next week for a few days and I'm going to do a test. Neither my airport or theres are all that large so it shouldn't take too long . I hope.
Unloaded, in a hard case. Locked with NON TSA locks (locks only you can access). Then inside your checked bag, with TSA lock, or no lock.

We use those vehicle "lock boxes" that have a cable. Cable around baggage frame. Only baggage we have with frame is carryon size. Use such & check it.

Cable is not a TSA nor Airline requirement. Just made sense.

Charged magazines in same locked case, in magazine belt holders/holsters.

Have read some instances of Airline &/or TSA folks taking issue with charged magazines. To avoid such, could bring an empty ammo box & the ammo box foam/plastic insert. As an "in case of moron" backup. Extra "moron" probably after that Florida airport scumbag shooting incident in '17. We've never encountered that level of moron. You might.

I would have booked it the hell out of their too. If you wait for the law good chance they would then harass you later about testifying.
F that. "I think your full of crap because you didn't stick around and wait for the police and get their ...blah, blah, blah. " My @ss. . Ive pulled people out of burning cars, pulled people out of frozen lakes and saved several lives in vehicular wrecks and then got the F out of there before the cops showed up. Im not interested in that crap.

As my now dearly departed best friend in High Schools dad would tell us whenever we'd go out carousing... "Stay away from the law!"

I learned that lesson the hard way many decades back. Watching game one day, nice, door is open. I hear woman screaming. Look across street can hear its coming from people who recently moved in. Call 911. 20K questions. Me telling them I can see nothing, only what I hear, I "suspect" its a domestic but I am not going to go knock on their door. While playing 20 K questions I see spouse walk out of house get in his car and leave. I pass all this along and they finally let me off the line. :45 later an LEO rolls in. Goes to door and goes inside. Months later people move. I had forgotten all about this until one day I get subpoena in mail. I have to go to court to testify over this. Nice little threats about what will happen to me if I don't show up. Its on a damn Friday. So I take a vacation day, Wife and I are off to court. I see the couple sitting there. They call case after case, finally they call his case. Wife jumps up and runs from the court room. He steps up and they start calling her name. After a few calls they dismiss as she is not there. Black robe them turns to me to thank me for showing up. I bit my tongue and did not say what I was thinking. After that I always kept an inactive cell phone around and charged. You can call 911 with them. I told Wife if I every call again I will NOT give my damn information so this does not happen again. 🤬

When I was young, I lived in a few different affordable apartments that other young people could afford. One couple next door always had load bumps and screaming. I never saw them. Knocked on the door, called the police but it never got better.

Another place, I was outside with some male neighbors. We heard a bloody scream just at the next building. We ran over and grabbed a guy walking to his truck. Turned out he was trying to leave to calm things down. The girlfriend confirmed it. She wanted him to stay and be berated by her and listen to her crazy rants. We told him, if the police came, we would tell them what we saw.

As we age, hopefully we learn. A lot depends on where you are and who's involved. I can't use absolutes, like I would never. I can say, I probably won't.
