The Avalon, down Sellwood way, but on

The other side of the river,

Used to have a mighty fine cigar bar

And good whiskey too.

Now, it was a major yuppie place,

But I used to walk in there in jeans or carharts

And basically filthy from a long day out in the mud & rain.

They were pretty cool about it.

I'd get some looks from the downtown royalty,

But nobody ever pushed it.

Course, Lord knows this was early nineties.

I'm a pipe smoker. Used to stink out my cigar friends no end.

The Avalon is probably long gone, but check anyway.

Used to be a big pipe + cigar smoker, but have had to quit nicotine entirely to stay off the cigs....

I don't like to inhale smoke ALL the time in bars and in restaurants.. but for my enjoyment of cigars.. I sometimes wish we had Las Vegas smoking laws.
