Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
We went to the Fields, Oregon area last week and did not see a Chukar. Some old droppings and that was it. Did find some Valley Quail and plenty of deer. Nevada reports are similar. Bird population is down significantly from last year.
Has anyone found any good Chukar populations?
When I was a teen (many, many moon ago), we went chukar hunting in the Succor Creek area of eastern Oregon. Darn things would fly from one end of the gulch to the next laughing at us as they flew past. Naturally, not being too bright, we laid chase and the chukars then proceeded to fly back to where they came from, laughing at us again.
Guess that's what made them so tasty when we finally shot one or two or three. :-D
