After finally biting the bullet and getting one of these stands ($75 on Amazon) I have been kicking myself for waiting and messing with those stupid tinny stands that you see everywhere. I'm only selling this because we went artificial last year and no longer need it. Why is it so good? (yes it is that good!)
Wide base to support monster trees without bracing to the wall or whatever.
Fits trunks a bit over 6 inches in diameter.
Lot's of water capacity, so you don't have to crawl under the tree as often.
Cool ratchet feature makes installing the tree so easy. Put the tree in the stand and then just press in on the jackscrews. They ratchet into place, then final tighten, adjust by turning the screws. When taking down twist the jackscrew a few turns then push on the ratchet bar. The jackscrew then pulls straight out. Easy peasy!
