Chopping a KMR-7"??

I'm putting together a 5.5" 9mm build on a QC10 lower and Rainier slick side upper. I'm thinking of chopping down my KMR-A 7" to around a 5". I don't really want to spend $185 on a SLR shorty. I'd like to get some ideas on the best way to cut it down. Thanks.
