Chicago Homicide Rate Worse Than Kabul, Up To 200 Police Assigned To High-Profile Wedding (VIDEO)

"Chicago's murder rate is also currently quadruple that of New York and double Los Angeles' rate."

"The previous weekend, at least eight were killed, including a 16-year-old boy, and 46 wounded by gun violence in Chicago. Monday evening into Tuesday, seven more people were shot, two of them fatally. The city's homicide rate is up more than 50 percent over last year."

DISCLAIMER: The article doesn't specifically say Chicago has the highest gun violence rate, but after reading the article I wouldn't doubt it and it is just another example of how anti gun laws DON'T WORK and get more people killed.

So what do we learn from banning firearms over and over again? Anti gun laws only put guns in the hands of law enforcement and criminals!

What I learned is that the Chicago policy towards guns and its suppossed impact on gun violence is an abject failure. BTW, I believe I heard very recently that the vast majority of gun violence occuring in Chicago is gang related. If it weren't for innocent folks getting caught in the crossfire I would probably just shrug my shoulders and be inclined to let the gangs have at it. I'd be curious to see how Oakland, CA compares to Chicago.

Socialism doesn't work, kids.

I vote this the most moronic statement of the year so far. What in the world does Chicago gang/gun violence have to do with socialism????????

Criminals are going to find guns even if the gov bans them. And it's the average joe that will have to pay the price with not being allowed to protect themselves.

All the more reason why Chicago's gun policies are an ABYSMAL failure.

And this ^^ surprises anyone, why??

As the old saying goes, when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns...........

Really you don't get the connection? Really Lets see why do people need to defend themselves and or own guns we are the government we take care of all your needs from birth to death You don't need that silly old constitution paper it is so outdated Besides since we paid for all your heatlh and safty needs living in a dangous world we own you do as I say not as I do cause we are the government. Really you don't see the connection its all connected every bit of liberism/socialism is connected to taking away every individual right. In the socialistic world the individual is the greatest threat to the socialist. All that independent thinking and all vs group think. Now don't you feel foolish for criticizing someone else’s free speech? Wait that is your current right at least until socializm comes about. Not eveyone has the premise of thinking one issue idealogy.

Blame guns, it is an easy cover up for their failure to manage crime in their city. I would like to see the stats on how many of the guns involved were legally owned.
But you know they will never publish that information. They don't want us to know the truth.

Ugghhh the blame guns does not end there..

I grew up in NJ, we all know how thier laws are over there. Wel unfortunately a cousin of a former HS classmate was killed in a driveby lastnight. I found out via FB and left condolenses as has everyone, but of course one person had to say sorry and then comment about all the "gun violence".

Gahhh I really wanted to reply back, but just not the time or place. That person at least acknowledged it is violence and lack of respect for others that is the root problem, but not happy they had to do the whole gun voilence comment. Hrmm NJ has tight gun laws, have to get a permit specific to each gun purchase, may issue CCW which I heard is tough to get. Guess it wasn't enough to stop the gangbanger (likely <21yrs old) from carrying gun in car (illegal without hard to get permit), and then doing a driveby, so it's "gun violence" not "gang violence"..

The last time I was in Chicago--and it will definitely be the last time--I don't think I saw any 'average Joes'. A greater abundance of criminals, miscreants, and malingerers is not to be found anywhere else within our borders.

I don't feel any more foolish than you do criticizing my thoughts. Your point was ........?????

Courtesy of Wikipedia: Socialism /ˈsoʊʃəlɪzəm/ is an economic system characterised by social ownership and/or control of the means of production and cooperative management of the economy,[1] and a political philosophy advocating such a system .....

So tell me, what does Chicago gun policies (and other states/communities gun regulations) have to do with an economic system????? I sure hope you warmed up well before you made that stretch above. Wouldn't want you to pull a muscle or anything.

It's not the laws. Consider 2 different countries:

Switzerland- the gun laws are often there to enforce gun ownership. High gun ownership, low gun violence.

Mexico - very strict gun laws. Low gun ownership, extremely high gun violence.

Thanks for the entertainment.

I don't agree with your narrow view of Socialism again one little aspect of the the whole truth. Great attempt at deflection.

If you don't see the connection to individual rights which is gun ownership and much much more, then there are NO Words.

What is it with this obsessive compulsive knee-jerk reaction to call everything socialism? Why can't it just be a failed policy?

The top states for firearm murders per 100,000 people (rather than the loosely defined 'gun violence) are:

Washington DC
Louisiana
Missouri
Maryland
South Carolina
Delaware

I was surprised that Illinois and New York are actually way down the list, and lower than the national average. Hawaii, another gun ban state, is almost last with New Hampshire and Vermont. So it's not as obvious as "strict gun laws = crime".

It's not the gun laws. In the case of Chicago specifically, it's gangs - they have the worst gang problem in the entire country, and it's been getting worse for years.

Have you ever been to Detroit?

Greetings from the 3rd most dangerous city in the country!

St. Louis is the 3rd most dangerous city in the country according to a recent polling, and they were only measuring violent crime. I find that odd, because even though murders do happen a lot in this city, it sure doesn't feel like the streets are running red with blood.

We have pretty lax gun laws, and even if some people in some urban areas are killing each other, you know dying is a sad fact of life, and I don't see how a handgun ban would affect anyone but me when I go down into the city and punch holes in paper. Arizona has pretty lax gun laws (my family has a house in Tucson) and but for a high profile mass shooting, I don't really think of it as a violent city. I love being able to walk into a circle K in Arizona with my Beretta M9 in my holster.

Basically this is my opinion of strict gun laws, and this goes for several other laws in the country. Those that trade freedom for security deserve neither.

In my entire life Ive only met one gun shot victim who was severely impacted by it, I remember I brought my gun to my friends house since I had just gotten it and it was brand new and one of his friends was over and an accidental discharge had hit him in the head, thankfully the young man lived through that, but he didn't want anything to do with my gun (he wasn't rabid about it like the brady campaign) and I could completely understand why.
