Whoever crafted this idea is obviously out of touch with reality, to think an unarmed presence of firefighters is going to deter many gang members.

Why would gangs respect fire fighters any more than school children? They have no power and no authority. How about allowing a few armed parents to escort the kids.

Hopefully the new concealed carry regs will get passed soon and abolish Chicago's stupid rules.

The Chicago school district announced that it will use the money saved to invest in air-conditioning, libraries, iPads for all students in grades 3-8, and programs for advanced students.

iPads for all students in grades 3-8? The kids here don't even get that and yet the ghetto kids in Chicago do?
