Marion County and Lane County among others have been running slick top Cameros and Mustangs for years. They nail people all the time.

Luckily they still only buy American cars so I can still spot them. Nice Toyota behind you? not a cop. So glad I pay taxes for $30K+ police cars to bust speeders instead of doing real police work.

No cop license plates either. WSP was running Oregon plates on some cars a few years back but I think they got busted. Sneaky sneaky.

Good to know the revenue is still being generated in a recession.

I've heard before that these cars are confiscations from criminals. So, maybe not your tax dollars so much? Any body ask?

Also, I don't care what they drive. These guys put their lives on the line every day, and besides, if a person is worried about unmarked police cars maybe they ought to think about obeying the laws instead? Hmmm?

Personally, I've never understood the continued reliance on high-speed chases or even the need for fast cars. Nothing can out-run a police radio. All they do is endanger other pedestrians, drivers, property, etc.
Get the necessary information and deal with the alleged law-breaker after he's parked.

    The money goes somewhere right?

You pay court fees on top of tickets etc. money is generated.

More like civil forfeiture where your money is guilty until proven inocent. I dont mind cops having approproate tools for their safey. A murdered out Challenger is not one of them though. That car is for nothing other than maximizing revenue from fines

I think I saw a Prius cop car in Eugene. It might have been a public safety car but it looked decaled up like a cop car anyway.

My stepbrother told me a lot of the fancy cars and vehicles used in under cover work are cars that have been confiscated.

A while ago the WSP was using Subaru WRXs to bust street racers.

People die every year in speed accidents, driving stupid, reckless, or in roadrage.
I'm all for them using undercover vehicles.

If they did that, then they would have to prove they were the person driving the car at that time. All you would have to say for reasonable doubt is I let this man drive my car for $50 bucks. Your idea would actually cause more high speed chases because once you pull away you know they will back off and stop chasing you.

It's the same as the red light camera tickets in WA. It illegal to take a picture of the person, so when you get a ticket you tell the judge it wasn't me, I let a friend drive that day. Not up to you to provide evidence for the prosecution of the driver. Case dismissed.

My old boss was very religious and didn't want to lie to the court. She explained to me before she went to court, that if I was right about the pictures not showing the face that the judge would value her honesty and probably reduce her fine. She said 4 people all went before her and said it wasn't them...case dismissed. She got the full fine.

For some reason I can't quote anymore.
Anyway clear conscience,by wa law an unmarked car can not give traffic tickets.
A guy in eastern wa pulled over a cop in a small town cause the car was new and hadn't been badged yet but the cop was giving tickets
Made the Seattle news and you tube

It won't take long for everyone to get these "ghost" badges put on. They can always find a way to circumvent the law
