The Problem was that she said "Target Tactical". There is only one model called the "Target Tactical" so any other rifle would have been wrong. But that's not the problem. The Problem is that they wouldn't change it after the fact. We are seriously talking about hours after the order. To defend the salesmen, I would have probably done the same thing, but the difference is when I make a mistake, I do everything I can to fix it. CTD is seriously sub par in their customer service department. If you have to buy on the net, Sportsman'sguide is far superior in both price and support.

I've been in sales for over 30 years and they only way I could possibly defend this sales guy is if he told her up front that the rifle her boyfriend wanted was out of stock and asked her if he would be willing to accept a different rifle. It doesn't sound like that happened. Sounds like this guy wanted to close a quick sale and just move onto the next call. I will lose a sale before I sell something to a customer that I know isn't what they want or they won't be happy with.

I certainly understand your attitude. There is one business I will never do business again with due to similar happenings. In my case it was an email notice that the item could not be delivered as soon as promised and I could cancel and order another item. I cancelled and ordered another item only to be told the first item had already shipped. I was very lucky the second item was cancelled.

As someone noted the only real power one has is to take one's business elsewhere. I have never had a problem with CTD. In fact they done me good by sending me a second muzzle brake after I called and told them the first one was trimming copper.

It is a bummer it happened to you, but even worse that it was your honey that did the order. I hope she writes it off as a poor business deal and does not give up trying to buy you that special toy another time in the future. You got a real good one there.

I've never had a problem with the co in many transactions. but then I am an experienced gunner and would not put someone who wasn't on the line to order gun stuff

Keep badmouthing these businesses (including FedEx which has never done me wrong) and you'll be paying through the nose for formerly cheap gear. Honestly I don't know how some of you kids manage to get your shoes tied in the AM

I'm not following you, but I can't figure out my damn shoelaces either...

I ordered one thing from them 2 DAY and it took them 9 days. So I never will shop there again. When you pay for a product you are paying for a service and product. I don't have the time to sit and wait for CTD to get off their butt and ship me something. I don't want to hear excuses. If you can't provide a service then don't advertise you can. Plain and simple, that is it.

I shop locally but for me local is 1-3 hours away.

Did you check/follow the shipping info from the shipping carrier? I've noticed that most of the time it's USPS/UPS/FedEx that drops the ball on their shipping.

Any one who knows can tell you "cheaper than dirt" is by NO means cheaper than dirt. I have bought a few things from them in the past but to be honest most things are higher priced than several vendors I tend to buy more often from online.
Sorry about the bad experience, I really do try to stay local for most things, especially guns. The fact is that with local sales you can knock out a problem face to face instead of some dipsh!t who knows how many thousands of miles away.

I too would never let someone surprise me with a birthday gift. All of my friends and family know that i'm too experienced and stuffed full of expertise to allow a kind hearted gift. If anyone ever tried to do that, i'd slap them first, and remind them of how experienced I am second.

I wont even get into the whole honest reviews thing. They're ruining the world I tells yah. That reminds me, I need to check on my Enron stock... Sure hope it's going well! Then I can go on CTD.com and but me a 10/22 target tactical and have it shipped via fedex.

In other news, I havent been able to stomach that dump since they were trying to get between $50 and $80 for a box of FMJ 380acp.

Hang on, let me put on my flame retardant suit, my kevlar vest and a helmet... okay, I'm set.

No excuse for bad customer service. Any call that ended in a customer in tears is an employee that should be fired.

That said; what did the sales guy do that was so wrong? He didn't have the product she asked for and he proposed a reasonable substitute. He didn't know you already had the AR conversion or that you didn't like the .22 M4. He had a customer on the phone that needed help and he made a best effort to do so (she even said he did a good job). I don't see a bait and switch. She placed an order for the SR-22 and that's what they plan(ned) on shipping her.

As far as price gouging goes you have to consider the price of what it's going to cost to restock. If CTD had a reasonable concern (or not) that their prices were going to go up then they should raise the prices to make sure they have the capitol to do so.

I don't understand why people get so bent out of joint about a business being businesslike and making a profit. If you don't like the price; shop elseware. A good business will either adjust the price or go out of business. That's the beauty of a free market. We claim we don't want socialism but we want everyone to sell at cost or worse yet a loss and badmouth the businesses that don't. Profit isn't a four letter word.

I've got my umbrella out. Let the bubblegum storm begin.

Profit is one thing, deceptive advertising is another. When did Pmags have a $59.96 MSRP as CTD claimed. When I grabbed that screen shot the msrp was according to the pmag web site $34.95 not $59.96. Beyond deceptive, it's a out and out lie.

CTD is all about GREED and greed is destroying this country.

Meh; MSRP or List is a made up number that doesn't constitute false advertising IMO. False advertising would be to say it held 32 rounds when it only holds 30 or saying it was made of polymer when it's made from steel etc.

I agree greed is killing our country but I don't think CTD is leading the charge.

I do think it's funny that one guy is complaining that his order shipped too fast to cancel and someone else is complaining it took too long to ship his order. What's the saying about some of the people some of the time?

A long time after the sting of Cheaper than dirt being totally crappy towards you folks fades into the dust, the memory of your girlfriend doing you right will still be a pleasant memory. You can sell or trade any weapon received and still get what you want at only a small transaction cost to you, there's hot and cold running 10/22's everywhere you turn, but this is not the case with quality women. Shes a keeper.

You're a truly a lucky man. :s0155:

When my wife and I had just been married a few years her father knew I was into firearms and convinced her to buy me a "gun" for Christmas. They only catch was that it was one of these silly Franklin Mint pot metal replicas of the pistol that Billy the Kid (Or somone like that. I don't really remember now.) had owned. Her father, an otherwise intelligent man, for some reason bought the whole advertising spiel about "collector value". I shudder to think what she paid for it, but I tried to look surprised and delighted. I just kept telling myself "she did this because she loves me". I dutifully displayed it on the wall in my den for years. I did very tactfully bring up some time later that while I loved her gift the next time she wanted to buy me a firearm I would love to have her take me shopping to give her a couple of ideas and she could surprise me with one of them.

I agree, your girlfriend is a keeper. Just keep telling yourself, like I did, that she did that because she loves you.
