Saw a sign at a pawn shop the other day, "AR 499".

Edit. Maybe we're back to seeing better prices for AR things again but maybe not as low as I remember during the end of Obama and the start of Trump Slump..
Pretty easy to get an AR just under $300 or just over right now. Psa complete lower about $119-$139. BCA complete upper with bcg/ch handle $169-$189

Fe recent purchase total cost for 18" 416R ss heavy fluted barrel dual charging complete upper + psa sheepdog complete lower = $338 shipped, with $10 of that donated to GOA.

Yes but... how much less? And is it actually that much "cheaper" than during the end of Obama and start of Trump years when one could find complete ARs for about $350-400?
26.72 percent overall. For firearms specifically, IDK. But if we went with that,

499 - (499 * .2672) = 365.6672 so pretty close? Someone with an accounting background is going to correct me soon enough and we'll know for sure. :)

Also, when I go here

I get $393.79 so there's that...

So.. real world; average gun prices have not increased by as much as 26%+? I do remember the prices shooting up right around 2008 and again in 2012 (thanks Obama  ) for guns and ammo, particularly ARs, AKs, SKS... with many forumites right here claiming "we'll never see prices lower" :s0140: then came the end of Obama and the start of Trump years.....

The comparison was at the Obama-Trump transition, which would be 2016. If you went back to 2008, I'm sure you would see a lot more inflation.

edit:

$353.26

Yea, I remember paying $275ish? For a 54 Izhevsk SKS that I sold for $475+ a few years later with some ammo. During Obama years... I did the SARCO $475 M4 16" build with a $60 (including BG check) poverty pony lower..... after Obama years. Lol 😆

So... to recap; some guns are becoming more affordable while others are relatively stable in pricing year to year, and yet others have raised prices a little due to whatever reason besides inflation...

Hi Points have been quite stable in pricing for new and used... raising only with some inflation for new but staying relatively low when used (under $100 for handguns, $150-300 for carbines depending on caliber and newness)

Plus ship plus transfer and bg check fee from FFLs, probably would end up paying about $150-$170 OTD after it arrives to your FFL? Edit, unless free shipping over a certain dollar amount?

Edit 2. Looks like a dang good price though. 👌
Could always go the knights armament route. :p :p :p :s0110: :s0110: :s0110:

Somebody on here was trying to sell me a used knights armamanent mp5 handguard for $500. bubbleguming ridiculous. Whole gun cost $1000 and the same handguard is available for 1/5 the price from other brands.

I'm sure we could build a M110 SASS 7.62x51 rifle without the suppressor, for far less than $10,000 even using mostly KAC stuff :s0140:
Yea just slightly less ha ha. Don't know about that rifle but I know aero ar-10 with all good quality aero parts can be made for around $1000 or a bit less (and that's with their high end parts like boron nitride bcg, etc).

Thanks for bumping this 3 year old thread...
My pick for cheap CARRY gun is the SCCY CPX-2 gen3.
An 11 shot, DAO only, 9mm, semi-auto, no safety, so 2x+1 rounds of a 5 shot revolver at 1/4 the price.
Sportsman's sells them for $170 online and store managers will honor that price or order it online sent to your local store for no shipping cost.

It is really a clone of the discontinued Keltec P11.
The gen3 has a rail in front of the trigger guard, the finger grooves removed from the grip, and better sites.
I put a block sock on mine:

jmo,
🤔
Edit: if DAO is not your thing, they sell a striker fired version too:
.
I have a SCCY and it is an excellent value
I am a revolver guy so the long trigger pull is not an issue. Well made in America!

Thanks for reading/quoting my post.

Yeh, what I was eluding to in my post, a great alternative to a revolver with the same safety features.
The only downside of a DAO auto is the effort it takes to rack the slide.

My carry guns are DAO (aka a revolver trigger) or LEM (HK).
DOA minimizes any ND re-holstering during range sessions.
Some of those guns I can thumb the hammer while re-holstering to identify any trigger movement.
As far as the longer trigger pull inhibiting accuracy, for me, It's not important at bad breath ranges.
jmo,
.
