I have a SA GI Model 1911, and generally pleased with it but hated the low profile sights. I have a set of 3-dot sights I wanted to install instead (direct from Springfield), but have never installed pistol sights before, and am curious if this is a feasible home project for a newb.
I'm comfortable with general work, and have built ARs and such, just never done any work on pistols before. I am pretty confident in doing the rear sights, but not clear on how the front sight was to be done. Figuring that out was what I envisioned as my first step. Thoughts or suggestions before I start trying to do this myself? Or is this something I should bring to a gunsmith?
