Just issued their latest bulletin. This newsflash addresses "a response to the recent gang-related shootings in Portland". Cease Fire extends their sympathies to the victims and their families.
This public service bulletin addresses:

1) "Enough is Enough" a campaign modeled from a similar campaign in Detroit.
2) Lax gun laws in Oregon make it easy for criminals to access weapons and provide weapons to minors.
3) Condolences are with the family of Jessee Hortman of Michigan who was shot to death by a "string" of drive-by gunfire on Oregon's coast.
3) Ceasefire asks a naive question: Why are these shootings tolerated?
4) Ceasefire Oregon and the Oregon Alliance to Prevent Gun Violence members will participate with Oregon Alliance to Prevent Gun Violence at Lobby Day on Sept 16th.


Their current website an further messages. Cease Fire failed to mention that gun-violence is almost always black on black shootings. Recent estimates are about 5000 shootings of this type occur in a recent 12 month period as cited by the FBI.

Seriously, they should just say "we hate guns and want them banned." Dont try and convince people by making up stuff. Cant anyone be genuine anymore? Have some freakin honor about what you believe in.

Also, if they want to ban guns to prevent suicide, they better damn well have a plan for mental health coverage. Because people still kill themselves without guns and if all you want to do is ban guns you arent going to reduce the mental health problem.
