"Can I carry at or near a school? Or College?
(RCW 9.41.280) If you have a valid CPL and are picking up or dropping off a student you are allowed on the school grounds. Firearms are not permitted in school buildings. Colleges set their own policies, which ban lawfully carried guns. South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia is the only college in this state we know of that does not specifically ban lawfully carried guns from their campus at this time."

Private property owners that are posted can ask you to leave, and providing you do, there is no legal risk. Colleges, not being private institutions, can engage the lawman, which has significant risk.

That's were I recieved my AA in CAD. Never carried but had many a heated conversation with the "I know everything" liberal crowd there!!! Hated them snotty people!!!

NO, it is NOT illegal and you will NOT "lose big". There is NO law against it and "signs" don't count, they are not LAW.

Here is the WAC (NOT law) that is referenced in the above link, http://apps.leg.wa.gov/Wac/default.aspx?cite=132E-120-220 and is titled, Student conduct code—Violations. So unless you are a student, it does not apply.

The school may have a Policy (also NOT law), but that does not make it illegal. The worst they can do to you is ask/escort you off campus. It says "Everett Community College disciplinary action and/or arrest in accordance with state and federal laws." well you can not be "disciplined" by the college, and there are no state or federal laws being broken...............

Here are all the RCW (YES laws) for WA dealing with firearms, http://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.41

Thank you. It drives me crazy when people claim it's illegal to carry at colleges. They do the same thing with hospitals, airports, and police departments.
I don't understand how someone can carry a gun and not know the applicable laws.

Technically you're correct. However, if you are found to be with a gun in any college campus (ones that are posted, that is,) security won't even approach you. They call the local police department who will respond in force, and when that many people with badges and bad attitudes show up, they won't merely escort you off of campus and wish you a nice day. They'll want something to show for their expense, and the college is loathe to be thought of as kind to anyone with a gun.

I apologize for not verifying the RCW wording; I certainly should have.

Again even if the cops show up, you have to have broken a law to be charged with anything. If they harass you there are ways of dealing with that too.

Am I saying the will be no hassle, no. Just saying you are breaking no laws. If cops with any brains show up it will be a non-issue, of course there is always that one...........

The reality comes in this is NO different then going to any other "no gun policy" place. Most movie theaters have the same policy, do you fear carrying there?

Washington State Administrative Rules prohibit firearms in at least the following locations:
Colleges or Universities
Racing Grounds
Licensed child care facilities (including pretty much any facility licensed to provide care to children/teens)

That simply isn't true.
