Soccer is the sport for busy people. The game takes 90-100 minutes of playing time with a 15 minute halftime in the middle, that's it (unless it's a playoff/elimination game, in which case there is the possibility of 30 minutes of overtime). None of this "last five minutes takes half an hour" crap you see in Basketball and Football.

Another reason all Americans should support the US Soccer Team:

Soccer is the sport of the rest of the world. It would only bring glory to the US if we dominated the sport of the rest of the world.

I have no problem with that as long as you're packing something patriotic like say a 1911. ;)

Followed by five free kicks to see who wins, rendering the rest of the match totally meaningless. What a stupid to way to end any kind on sports contest.

Penalty kick shootouts suck. A better and more exciting way to have a tiebreaker shootout is what they did years ago in the old NASL---the ball gets spotted on the 35 yard line and the kicker is given 5 seconds to take one shot, but the goalie is allowed to charge out at the kicker and cut the angle down instead of having to keep his feet on the goal line. The odds still favor the kicker but not by nearly as much as a normal penalty kick.

Penalty kicks, not free kicks. Using proper terminology helps you sound more educated and keeps your opinions meaningful (just like when an antigunner calls magazines 'clips' ).

Stretching things out with repeated timeouts is a stupid way to end a sporting contest too, but it happens in almost every football and basketball game. We all have our crosses to bear.

Rugby is so much better to watch and play. Can't wait for the Olympic trails so that the rest of the USA will finally be enlightened.

And to add meaningful content to this thread, I've just moved over from the line that had the wand as if I was trying to find a faster line through the ticketing area.

Thanks for the correction. I am going to write the NBA and NCAA and suggest we end basketball games with free (penalty) throws.
