Can the government prevent someone who is in good standing and used weapons (ie an M4) in the military, from possessing / owning weapons while a civilian?

PA, Pennsylvania, is the authority which denied Yox his rights as they relate to the 2nd amendment.

This is an extremely confusing post, but I think you're trying to ask if there are "on the job" exceptions to otherwise blanket firearm prohibition laws. There are. Under federal law, those who suffer a firearms disability due to certain conditions can still carry and use firearms in the course of their jobs as military or law enforcement.
