The purpose is to prevent a human being from developing from that "clump of cells." For many, that future human doesn't have a snowflake's chance and will inevitably end up leaching off of government programs that so many detest.

Actually, unless she has had a child, a pregnant woman is not a "mom." Keep in mind that not all homicides are murder or even a crime. And defining the killing of a fetus as murder is dependent on how a state defines murder.

If citizens are permitted by State law to sue those who violate State law the will do so. There are already statutes in this country allowing people to do this. I will try to dig up some examples tomorrow.
