I wouldn't call it price gouging , It is called supply & demand. Looking @ local gun shops most shelves are near empty. I am used to paying 170/1000 9MM and today I found Tula @ 157.00 for 500. Way over priced and not even brass. Look online for best prices. I doubt if A Cut Above is making a killing selling ammo.

+1

I just returned from a trip to SE Washington state. I went in one chain store in Walla Walla that had 9 - 50 round boxes of 9 mm Federal American Eagle. I went in three stores in Oregon - one had 6 boxes of 200 round White Winchester in 9mm plus 3 or 4 boxes of 100 round; one had tracer rounds only in 9 mm (I did not know there was such a thing); and two had 0/zip/nada.

Between panic buying, new firearm buyers, Covid business interruption and being a political election year, prices are high and that is not necessarily gouging.

I must say it was nice to see 2 of the 4 stores that had ammo out on regular shelves and not behind the counter or glass.

Of course you took all that ammo straight to the range and used it outside CA, as importing it to CA would have been unsafe and thus illegal :p

Nope.

While most cannot legally import ammo, with the proper paperwork, planning and understanding of the law it is still legal to import it into CA.

Given the scarcity, I did not feel it would be right to bring it all back home to CA. So, I left it for you to shoot - especially the tracers. :s0060:

CCI Blazer Brass Black Label, 9mm, FMJ, 115 Grain, 500 Rounds in a Bulk Box
I just paid less than 200 shipped (1000) @ Sportsmans Guide , I do have a membership which lowered the cost.
But 6 months ago I was paying 160-170 :(
This order though is due 10/26/2020 and they did not bill until shipped. Im sure 200 for a 1000 will br a great price in Oct. If it isn't I can cancel, Huuuuuuuuuuuuum maybe I should order more ;)

Unfortunately my stash has been pretty much depleted since last fall. I haven't had time to shoot with life, and work getting in the way.
Now that I finally got some time to shoot again covid started, and demand went through the roof. Kicking myself now that I didn't stock up when it was readily available.

NW Armory has plenty. Limit of 100 per "household" per day. S&B is about 12.50 per box of 50.

Don't bother going on the weekend unless you like waiting in a line.

Yeah, the young man hiding behind his keyboard who started this discussion WAS a transfer customer of ours (no longer welcome). He obviously does not understand how supply and demand works. He also does not seem to understand the damage he is causing to our small business, who is just trying to survive this storm, by shooting off his mouth on-line rather than talking directly to me about the issue face to face like a man.

We have an awesome customer base here at A Cut Above Pawn and if anyone ever has a problem or concern, we are ALWAYS willing to listen and help. Thank you to all of you who have done business with us in the past and to those who are willing to give us try in the future. You WON'T be disappointed.

again, there's no price gouging if you can say no...

And the "fix" is... ?

Feel free to donate all the money, ammo, food, and toilet paper to whomever you wish, including that "mythical individual" you used as an example. That would make you a generous and charitable individual... much rarer the the poor, broke-azz one you cited as "mythical"... lots of those around (myself included).

Mandating that others do it for you is not generosity, it's authoritarian.

There are plenty of places is the world were totalitarian price-fixing is the norm. The USA is not one of them.

A free market ebbs and flows at the will of the consumer and supply/demand.. surely you learned that in Econ 101. We are not a 100% free market as tariffs, kickbacks, and other international economic chicanery is the rule rather than the exception but efforts are in place to right the ship.

This was not a political thread but it does remind me of a joke:
A lesbian, a socialist, and a vegan walk into a bar...
How do we know?
Because none of em could make it past 30 seconds without TELLING us.

You seem very angry.

hahah

Lets get a list started of businesses in Oregon that are price gouging on ammo right now I'll start.
Was at A Cut Above Pawn today, usually(pre-panic) was a great place to deal with, that has changed.
I was shocked to see they wanted $325 for 500 rounds of Tula 122 grain hp 7.62x39, that is insane, I'm not going to pay that much ever for 7.62x39 .
I know some places are charging a little more for some things, but 7.62x39 even the exact same load can be had elsewhere for less for 1000 rounds!

Just wanted to make sure the OP saw this.

Went shooting with some friends back in January, I dumped one mag in an AR15, shot 1-10rd mag from a 1911 and 2-15 rnds from a CZ PCR. I had a lot of fun. My buddies dumped 1500 rnds of 5.56 and 1000 rnds of 9mm during that trip. Then complain they cant find any good prices for bulk ammo.

.I've done mechanic work in the past, i know it's a 4 hour job, current auto mechanic labor charge is $100 an hour, cost for the timing belt, tensioner and water pump is $100....so $100 parts, 4 hours labor at $100 an hour is $400, for a grand total of $500...3 different brick and mortar auto mechanic shops here in Portland wanted $1000 for the job
Then why didn't you just help your friend out and do the work yourself?! Could've saved yourself a lot of complaining.:s0155:

After going to Sportsman's today and seeing virtually NOTHING on the ammo shelves, there is no longer such thing as price gouging as far as I'm concerned. They are not making any money because they have nothing to sell. When they had some 9mm about 2 weeks ago it was $12.49 for Federal. Fair game on the price under the current conditions.

i know that "flat rate" means "overcharging customers for work, which also means price gouging"...found a local mechanic who works out of his van, a mechanic with over 20 years experience and ASE certified, to do the work at our home for $550

So I don't know this particular mechanic but usually folks who work out of their vans are: not insured, have a lack of warrantee, aren't necessarily using "genuine replacement parts", not paying overhead for a shop with employees or someone to answer the phone when you call, have workers comp insurance, etc., etc., etc. $550 could be massively overcharging without all these expenses. I know many reputable mechanics...and they are all working at reputable shops. Just like electricians, plumbers and other trade professionals. I know there are some good ones that due to circumstances beyond their temporary control, may need to have some alternative form of work. $1,000 isn't gouging because your choice it to risk getting sued by someone working like this (again, with all respect to the mechanic because I do not know their specific circumstance...but have lived long enough to see a pattern).

I have been looking for a decent mobile mechanic, the last two I dealt will never see my business again. They were completely untrustworthy and their word didn't chit. Seems to me to be too many tweekers and/or drunks that probably couldn't hold a job at a real shop.

Way to address the real issue of price gouging..."well if ya don't like it don't complain"?...betcha you'd complain hard if those same mechanics screwed your mom, your grandma, your sister, or your wife outta $1000 for $500 worth of work...eh???

Way to direct the obvious question away from you! And to answer your question, no my brother is a mechanic!:s0112:
