I actually have one! (well sort of)
When my clipboard broke I stuck the clip on piece of 1/4" Lexan Polycarbonate.
It will stop most 9mm and smaller, and it cost me $0.00.
Maybe I should sell them???

Those have been around for years. There are also briefcase inserts, face masks, and baseball caps with kevlar in the front.
