Hello MB .. and I might be able to answer this question ( your post inclined me to Join the Forums ).

I think that the spikes were used for an Anchor .. not for any Grappling over a wall or anything like that ..

Think Seals and Water. I think that the hooks were made for stashing equipment in the water In the rock.

No .. Seals ( I dont know this for sure because Im not a Seal nor know one ) I would think dont throw a blade with a small rope with a few hooks over any walls to climb up them ..

From what I know about the BM is that the hooks are used for an anchor for there gear ( Underwater gear ).

But I probably know less then you do so .. carry on ..
