Simon99 and drew, I don't care what the kid said. Last I checked, there was some thing called Freedom of Speech in this country. I don't care if the kid called every single one of the officers every bad word possible. I don't care if he went as far as to insult their spouse, children, or parents with the most offensive words. I don't care if he even went as far as to insult the officers using racial slurs. This is one of the worst police brutality videos I have ever seen. I hope the kids parents law suit sucks out a world record dollar amount against the police department AND the City. I REALLY hope everyone of those officers involved lose their jobs and are charged criminally and have to spend some real time in the Pound Town resort and contract AIDS, Herpes, and Every other known STD that is from male on male sex. DID this post give you a real image on how much I disapprove of crap like this from police?
I hear you....
Yes, the video looks terrible. I understand your views on what the kid/did or did not say. The reality is though, from a legal point of view that a jury of your peers will consider, is - did you threaten/intimidate/escalate the situation? This can be considered assault.
Had the kid walked away on his merry way, he could have exercised his freedom of speech with some of his drunk or stoned buddies down at the bar. Instead, it appears in the video that he decided to cause some conflict with the police....which was a very bad idea.
People that are grossly intoxicated or under the influence of drugs sometimes make poor judgment calls, and I'd say this kid made a huge one that evening based on the video footage.
I am not shocked by this, I really don't have any compassion for a 20 year old man, who get's kicked out of a casino for being under age, and then is questioned, and then let go by the cops.
/////Let's just stop right there, most guys, including me at that age, would thank their lucky stars that there are not tickets, fines, being arrested, getting your a$$ kicked by the cops, then getting your a$$ kicked a couple more times in the tank, because you are a mouthy little punk, and the cops know just where to put you for the night, court appearances and diversion classes involved. Then, I would have told my friends that they were cool cops, for letting me go, I would have said this because I would have been polite and then GTFO of Dodge.////
Lipping off to the cops, is a very, very stupid thing to do. From a legal standpoint, he could have said some stupid shizzle that merited a beat down, and arrest. Maybe instead of mommy and daddy telling little Connor, he is special, they should have taught him some manners. Stupid hurts, and good manners don't cost you anything.
