.22 LR or .22 Short (FN only, disc. - rare) cal., takedown design, 10 shot (16 for .22 Short) tube mag. in buttstock, 19 1/4 in. barrel for all .22 LR, .22 Shorts had various barrel lengths according to mfg. year: 19 1/4 in. for 1956, 22 3/8 in. for 1957, and 22 in. from 1958 until general production was disc. in 1983, checkered pistol grip stock, semi-beavertail forearm, stock has hole machined halfway to allow partial filling of tube mag., adj. folding rear or earlier wheel sight, grades differ in finish, amount of engraving, and quality of wood, 4 3/4-5 3/4 lbs. Early top loaders were mfg. from 1914 until approx. 1955. Modern tube loader mfg. 1956 to 1974 by FN Belgium. Mfg. beginning 1976 by Miroku in Japan.
