I hate to see this board brought down to the level that they make a cheap political point over a massacre. When at the same time, I'd be willing to bet 80% of you would criticize the brady campaign when they look at a massacre and cry for more gun control.

It's just shameful.

They're dead. Gotta use them for something or they're useless.

It was anti gun politics that got these people killed. Every dead person had a right to life and self defense taken away by liberal politicions.

Lets cut out the middleman and place acutal blame where it belongs, it's either the fault of the big bang or god depending on your point of view.

If we are all armed all the time I'd bet the gun death rate would increase by at least an order of magnitude. Then we could attribute all the extra deaths to rightie idealists that must think the average person is better than Karl Marx ever imagined possible.

I think if everyone was armed it would be just the opposite, you'd see a society with people giving each other a lot more respect.

Most British people I've met are happy with the way things are there... As such it cannot be held against them. Citizens of the USA don't get to decide another countries policies, we hardly get to decide our own.

They don't see things as you do. Whether you think it's right or wrong is irrelevant, because it has nothing to do with you.

More than likely.
Think about the old west, you either got good at being bad or you got shot.

The people in Britain do have insane notions about guns. They see them as some scary thing that if everyone had them, would do what the shooter did here.

But we know thats not how things are.

I wonder where it comes from? They probably see all the shootings on the news that we have here from time to time. They don't see the shootings that didn't happen. Or the shootings that were stopped.

In my travels, I've met nobody more polite than the Japanese and nobody ruder than - or even remotely as rude as - the Israelis.

Every culture's different.

:s0112::s0112::s0112: We are now governed by the same stupid progressive socialist style government that brought gun bans to Britian. It is only right to point out where this type of government leads.

You are right about some of them not seeing things the way I do, I am alive and carry a gun and they are dead without one. Probably better for them than haveing to live in a socialist he!!.

Gun bans put in place by socialist governments like this one? :s0112:

I'm not denying that British socialists have been responsible for most of the harm over there, but it seems as if British conservatives - even true conservatives - sing the same tune when it comes to firearms.

The idea that this sad episode proves that gun control "doesn't work" is nonsense. What it proves is that no system of gun control will guarantee a complete absense of gun violence. The UK has a much more stringent set of gun control laws than we do and much less gun violence per capita. Make of that what you want.

Frankly, I'm not so interested in whether gun control would "work." I'm not going to be swayed in my views of gun control by what the statistics show about the efficacy of gun control in curbing gun violence. We Americans have a special culture with firearms that other countries don't share or have discarded. For Americans, it's woven into our constitution and history and is not dependent upon empirical statistics from our own country, let alone that of another country.

Amen brother!

It's the revolutionary (in 1776) concept that our rights come from God, not from government. The right to self defense being chief among them, because if safeguards all others. That's the best argument, John Lott's voluminous statistical treatises notwithstanding.

I've found no one more rude than the French, including the Israelis.

I spent a month in Paris, and experienced far less rudeness than I do in an average month here. People certainly knew I was an American, as I only spoke enough French to take care of the most basic necessities (one of those necessities being not pissing off the French). I suppose it just depends on where you go and what you do. Maybe what you look like too: even though I don't look French, my features and complexion definitely don't stand out at all there.

So it wasn't a freak with a shotgun; it was liberal politicians who killed these people. So if you own C4 and blow up a building, it's not YOUR fault, and it's not the fault of the government for letting you buy the C4, its the fault of liberal politicians who didn't permit everyone else to own the RPGs that may have stopped you at the last minute. :s0114::s0114::s0114::s0114:

Must be great to have a bogey-man group to blame everything on. Jews and blacks have gone out of fashion, so the blame has evolved. Mexicans are tough to blame things on, because lefties will call you a "racist" for hating all Mexicans, so people just mention hispanic surnames and immigration status. But liberal politicians... Now who can find fault in THAT as a group responsible for everything?

I think I'm going to start blaming fat people for everything. Why not? What was the body-mass-index of this shooter anyway? Anyone know? I've got a bad feeling about these porky trouble-makers. Do we have to make them citizens? Can we deport them? I think police blotter notices should report the weight of suspects so we all know what kind of element we're dealing with. I'll bet fatties are responsible for a disproportionate amout of violent crime. And don't even get me started about health care premiums being pushed up by piggy types. Yeah, we gotta do something about the pork chops in this country.

Wasn't fluoridation a fat person's conspiracy to make it unnecessary for fat people to brush after eating a sandwich in bed late at night? Ever notice that Jack Ruby was overweight? And J. Edgar Hoover? Coincidence? I think not. And if we are permitted to disparage fat people freely, we can tell crude off-color jokes about porky types like Bibi Netanyahu, Mahmoud Abbas, and Ariel Sharon without being accused of any of those nasty -isms liberal politicians use in their ongoing hatred of America and all it stands for.

I grew up poor. How come I didn't turn into a criminal? Is that kinda like how my guns are defective because they haven't caused any crime?

Most people are poor. Shouldn't our country be mostly criminals? How about the wealthy who are criminals? Are they just a strange (yet heavily populated) anomaly?

What happens when a poor and unemployed criminal gets a job? Is he issued a code of morals with his first paycheck?
