REAL BRG9 review:
I am not a Pro reviewer, I've had many guns and use
bulk ammo!
1) First mag: "Loaded chamber indicator" barely moves,
unlike XD's!
2) First 5 mags: spent brass fly's straight up and down
your back like a Lugar!
3) Mag release unlatches toooo easy and twice
mags partly drop for no round loaded malfunction!
3A) Finger groove cut along entire top side of grip:
this appears to allow fingers to edge down to mag
release and loosen it; unlike more limited groove
with a lip on XD.
Likely this was done to look different than XD9;
BUT was OVER DONE allowing unintended mag
releases.
4) 5 times failure to fully eject, starting when dirty
after 5th mag!
5) ever notice other testers using GLOVES: two-tone
SS slide gets REALLY hot, untouchable in range session
unlike XD.
6) 6 times failure to fire: primer dented BUT all rounds
fire on 2nd strike; light strikes. Cheap ammo as XD
has same issue although half as much.
7) "Small" backstrap really medium sized, BUT straps
clearly marked to ID them. With "Small" grip is same
as standard XD9.
7A) Included kit lacks essential Nitro solvent and PP332
punch to change backstrap. Some say solvent may pose a
hazmat issue in shipping; still no reason to not include
the punch.
8) When dirty dirt regularly gets blown into face unlike
XD's.
9) All standard XD and Meggar mags work perfect, I
prefer shiny mags as you can find them when dropped
on patrol instead of kicking them down a storm drain!
Other reviewers appear to not do night patrols.
10) Sights are different: they are riveted to a base
plate sized for both front or back slide cuts, rear might
be XD compatible but front looks not...LOL finding a set
of night sights!!
11) 2 pins securing the gun began backing out after just
10 mags (160 rounds);
I've never seen this on my 6 XD's and thousands of
rounds!!
12) In my comparison tests the BRG9 shot just like a
XD9 except for prior 3A issue. Not softer or harder:
slide, mags, slide release still feel just like XD9. Has
a proven "duty" trigger, not a $5000 gun's match trigger.
Summary: this is the first run of these in the USA, most
other countries lack a seasoned population of gun
owners to vigorously shoot and then find and complain
about more bothersome tactical and ergonomic
issues. BRG9 points and shoots well!
BUT nothing is perfect, be aware of these issues. LOL
