    Update:

    As reported on NBC:

An 8-year-old girl was critically wounded Wednesday in a shooting incident at an elementary school in Bremerton, Wash., local media reported. The school district said it appeared the shooting was an accident.

Armin Jahr Elementary School in Bremerton, about 15 miles west of Seattle, was just letting out for the day when the victim, a girl in the third grade, was shot about 1:29 p.m. local time (4:290 p.m. ET), Bremerton police said. Police said it was too early to speculate, but a spokeswoman for the school district told NBC station KING of Seattle that the shooting appeared to have been an accident.

ABC station KOMO of Seattle reported that the girl, whose name wasn't released, was in critical condition with a gunshot wound in the stomach. It said her grandmother called the station to ask people to pray for her granddaughter.

The victim was transported by air ambulance to Harborview trauma center in Seattle.

Bremerton police Lt. Peter Fisher said the gun used in the shooting had been recovered and that a second student, believed to have been the shooter, was being held for questioning. The school district said student is a 9-year-old in the third grade.

I live here in bremerton. They just interviewed the teachers husband. He reported at 1:28 the students were lined up to leave for the day when the young boy pulled the gun and shot the girl in stomach. The young boy was troubled and causing problems in class since transferred in three weeks ago. We will see if this holds true. And how does a third grader get a gun...makes you wonder about home life. Sad.
