It's really not that bad. Spay down with 409, toothbrush visible char, swab/brush bore and cylinders, spray rinse with hot water. Shake out and let air dry (mine's a stainless gun). I also remove the nipples and put them in the sonic bath with simple green for 10min. Dry, nipple grease, reassemble with a touch of ballistol on bearing surfaces. Some people take down the gun to internals once a year for cleaning. I am resisting.

Cleaning BP arms isn't that difficult, and in most cases, actually a lot easier then the modern stuff! No noxious chemicals, no major disassembly, and simple parts that are easy to work with! Yea, your hands get a little black, but thats part of the fun and history!
