Ms Cleary has crossed the century mark.
I bought a set for one set of my nieces & nephews, one of whom is named Ramona.

Many of her books are set here in Portland - or at least based upon the city. She was born McMinville and raised in the City.

If you have young people who need some reading for the summer, take them to the library and read about a Mouse and his Motorcycle, or a family.

I read her books as a kid. She took me to some pretty cool places in the child's imagination! I remember hearing she was local girl but was surprised to hear she was still alive. Happy Birthday to her!

What an awesome writer! She wrote one about a 12 yo boy fishing for salmon on the coast with his dad and his dad's buddy and the kid's dog. Too many beers to type the whole story, so take my word, it was a gret striy,

Any book or author that can keep a kid reading is a great thing.
I hate seeing what all the video game playing and tv watching is doing to todays kids ...
