You can buy an unissued M40 mask for less, which has replaceable filters and doesn't need or have batteries that will affect shelf life. It's nice that it has the PAPR feature, I upgraded my mask a while ago with a PAPR pump (papr - positive air pressure respirator) which makes it much more comfortable to wear for long periods, I use my mask when I have to handle strong acids and some nasty solvents, and usually have to wear it for more than an hour. The PAPR makes all the difference.

I heard there was fogging / visibility issues, but this was just some guys talking. Have not actually asked somebody who has used one.
