What SHTF situation are you thinking of ?
In many cases one item which may be superb in one instance may not be so in another.

As for me I find that simpler is better.
But thats just me and what's best for me might not be for you.

a suppressed .22. great for cappin zombies in the grape without letting their buddies know.
Of which I have several to choose from!

I do keep a PMR-30 with two loaded mags in my pack as a "get home gun." If the big earthquake hits, and a bridge or four drop, and I have to walk home to outer southeast... I don't want my shots to be quiet. I want the homeless camp I'd have to walk through to know good and well that I breathe fire and lead with no end.

Get an AR, lots of mags and ammo, and any 9mm or 45 that lights your fire. That was easy....
