As a kid we had GSDs that were totally acclimated to having kids and strangers around.
As a result, twice we came home to strangers in the house.

Both times pops was told the dogs barked and growled, but let them in, and then wouldn't let them leave.
One was a friend of my brother's but the other one left in handcuffs with a police escort.

The dogs ate good both nights.

Methinks this Pooch got fed well also

I just got an email from a friend that sent me a picture of "a soldier sleeping in an air terminal with a k9". I googled it and it is the first pic displayed. Someone had added a couple of comments to the picture I recieved. The first was "I'll bet no one would dare shake him to wake him". And " A worthy goal in life is to be as good a person as your dog thinks you are". I wish I could link my email for you all but you get the drift.

When I lived in CALIFORNIA I worked for a Doctor Who had lots of friends that where LA COUNTY SHERIFF they used to come up to Santa Barbara and go out on the doctors boat and have party 's lots fire fighter and cops and one was K9 COP his dog went everywhere with him that dog was taught to understand GERMAN and was a family dog until he put his uniform on then the dog's atatude change in a second he new it was time to work lol and I never forgot that too this day if I see a K9 cop I move a little slower around him cuz that dog is always watching

Those DOGS are no joke they kill or die trying to protect there handler or owner

This a very simple thing to train some dogs and your kid have your kids or kid feed every night and that dog will protect that kid anyone try to hurt that kid the dog will protect them because the dog knows that's who feeds me lol

Well everyone, I came across a user on here whom sold me their dog due to lack of time to care for her and lack of interest from their kids.

She's great annnnddd is a 1.5 year old pure bred czech German sheperd.

I'm taking her up in the snow after work Friday. Hopefully I can get some good pictures of her trodding around in it before it gets too dark.

Thank you all for the insight from your experiences with several breeds. I will say that it's clear that German sheperds have distinctly different personalities from labs. She seems much more observant and protective of the house and her "pack". Great dog but different than my old black lab.
