I've done a bit more research and I've narrowed it down to a few choices.

- M&P 45 with an aftermarket barrel; readily available, least expensive choice but nothing special
- HK45 Tactical; nice, high quality and is something specialish. It's available at the warehouse right now, but it's also the most expensive option
- Sig P227 with factory threaded barrel; Sig quality, factory threaded barrel, a nice gun. Less expensive than the HK, but it's allocated so I won't be able to get one for a while

Did you check with JC Weaponry? I think the last time I was out at his place he had 2 of them.

I've got the USP 45 T and I love the thing. I have put my booger pickers on a 45 T at sportsmans and it felt good too.

The 45Osprey looks like it was made just for the USP 45 T though.

It does for sure. A co-worker has that exact combo. Mine is an Octane though, although I'm considering an Osprey 9 next.

I went to the Albany gun show yesterday, I was able to handle an HK45 and an FNX-45; the FNX-45 was the clear winner IMHO. Noticeably lighter, much better DA trigger pull, holds 15 rounds as opposed to the HK45's 10 and has the tall sights I'll need to clear the Octane.

I wasn't able to find a P227 though. My search continues....

Interesting comment on the weight of a FNX-45 Tactical since on paper the FNX-45 Tactical is heavier.

Advertised empty weight of FNX-45 Tactical is 33.3 oz (2.08 lb)

Advertised empty weight of HK45t is 1.98 lb (31.69 oz)
Advertised empty weight of HK45ct is 1.82 lb (29.12 oz)

While on the topic of weight: 1 230 gr .45ACP is 331 gr total, so 5 more of them for 15 rounds would be 1655 gr or another 3.789 oz (0.2364 lbs) more than 10 rounds...

HK DA pull has always been heavy at nearly 12 lbs (11.46 lb / 51N). SA is around 4.5lb/ 20N. About 1 lb more than the FN in DA and .5lb in SA...

Yeah, strange isn't it? Maybe it's better balanced and makes it feel lighter. Anyhow, the FNX felt better in my hand than the HK.

I have an FNP tac, Sig 220 and couple of 1911's that I run suppressed with an Osprey. I had a Glock 30 but it was lethargic cycling and was very front heavy. Not tried the HK, but the FN runs great and balances nicely....

No body talking Springfield XDM 4.5?I finally found the threaded barrel. 320 bucks + shipping. I would almost rather buy the whole tactical handgun, maybe a Remington Tactical or that FN that comes with a threaded barrel. I'm a week away from 9 months on an AAC Ty-Rant.

I'm not a fan of the XDM. The gun just looks.... Croatian.

I have both the usp and 45 t. I really like the 45 t, but when supressed I shoot the usp way better. Not sure why, but I ended up with both. If money is no option go for the hk. If you want a solid host and some cash for ammo go glock! Good luck!!!

go big or go home, Mark 23, just cant beat it.
I went through the considerable expense to do the Barsto barrel on my XDM 4.5 and after lots of problems and some hand-fitting my Son got me a KKM Precision barrel for my problematic Glock 41. It Smokes!! The sights almost work and the thing functions wonderfully. It's a little shorter than a Kentucky Rifle but everything just works. My suppressor is an AAC Ti-Rant.
